NOTE FROM THE NURSE
Action Needed before school starts
The State of Illinois requires that students entering kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade, as well as entering an Illinois school for the first time, must submit evidence of physical examination and a complete record of immunizations before starting classes or receiving services.

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN FROM YOUR SCHOOL NURSES
Welcome to the next adventure in your child’s life----- School! Trusting someone to care for your child while they are away from you can be difficult. We are hoping to relieve some of your concerns by sharing some basic school health guidelines. We feel honored to have your child during the day and will treat them with the same consideration as we would our own.
The nurses who serve Anderson Elementary are Nurse Seeger, building RN and Nurse McCann, certified school nurse.
Some main points to consider when preparing your child for kindergarten * From a nurses’ standpoint
Immunizations: All proof of vaccinations need to be ON FILE at School before the 1st day of school
Kindergarten Physical
Kindergarten Immunizations (Health Requirements)
Medications: If your child requires medication, has a life-threatening allergy and/or Asthma, please have all paperwork filled out and returned with medication to the school nurse. Medications will need to be dropped off by an adult.
Attendance: We realize illnesses do occur and parents must decide whether to keep a child home or send them to school. Please keep your student home if: temperature of 100.0 or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, red, itchy eyes with discharge or active live head lice. Students will need to be symptom-free without pain-reducing medications for 24 hours. If a student is given antibiotics or antibiotic eye drops from a physician, they will need to remain home until they have been on the antibiotics for 24 hours before returning.
Clothing: Please keep an extra pair of clothing in your child’s backpack. Accidents do happen when they get busy and are having fun. Sometimes they also need that extra pair of pants when they accidentally go down the slide and it's wet from the rain.
We look forward to getting to know your child during the 2025-26 school year!
