MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Cardunal Families,

We can't believe it's already May and there are only a few more weeks of school for the 2026/27 school year. We are so proud of all our students and the effort they have shown this year. Their growth and development has truly been impressive. We're happy to say that all mandated state testing in now complete so students will be turning their focus to the year end summatives for their courses. This is a perfect time to check Schoology for updates on student grades and progress.

As the year ends we have some retirees that we would like to recognize. These individuals will be missed immensely and have been such a huge part of the DMS family. We hope that they visit often post-retirement:

Ms. Duffey - 6th grade math

Mrs. Witek - speech and language pathologist
Mrs. Schau - paraprofessional

A big shoutout to our staff, students and families for making the musical "The Wizard of Oz" so successful. We're extremely proud of our students with all the hard work and dedication they put into the musical.

Track and field is in full swing right now as well. Student athlete are training hard and preparing for our District meet on May 12th.

Be sure to catch the year end concerts for choir (May 6th) and orchestra (May 13th). Our Band put on a great concert as well last week while playing a piece honoring Mr. Bishop.

The end of the year is full of exciting events. Keep an eye out for our daily and weekly updates for each event. Some of the events are exclusive to our 8th graders only:

We honor and congratulte Officer Hicks, DMS SRO, for his 25 years of service with the West Dundee Police Department. We are honored to have Officer Hicks as part of our DMS family.

Help Shape the Future of Our Schools - Attend District 300’s Final Together for Tomorrow Community Workshop

District 300 is set to conclude its Together for Tomorrow Community Workshop series and we invite you to join the final workshop session on Monday, May 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State St., in Hampshire.

The general entrance for this event will be Door 11, which is the main entrance located at the northwest end of the building.
Families requiring childcare are asked to use Door 18 for the old gym near the northeast end of the building. (These families will then be guided to the event space.)
Parking will be available on the north side of the school, with overflow parking available on the west side of the school.

The overall goal of the final session is to finalize the recommendations for an upcoming report to the Board of Education. During the Community Workshop, attendees will:

Review the Final Options: Review the big-picture options for the future of District 300's facilities.
Develop the Board Recommendations: Help determine the best path forward for potential facility projects and the various funding options associated with the Master Facility Plan. The feedback and decisions made during this workshop will play a vital role in shaping the formal report that will be presented to the District 300 Board of Education.

Ayude a Dar Forma al Futuro de Nuestras Escuelas: Asista al Último Taller Comunitario Juntos por el Mañana del Distrito 300

El Distrito 300 está a punto de concluir su serie de Talleres Comunitarios Juntos por el Mañana, y los invitamos a participar en la última sesión del taller el lunes 4 de mayo, de 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., en Hampshire Middle School, ubicada en 560 S. State St., en Hampshire.

La entrada principal para este evento será la Puerta 11, ubicada en el lado noroeste del edificio.
Se les pide a las familias que necesiten servicio de cuidado de niños que utilicen la Puerta 18 para acceder al antiguo gimnasio, situado cerca del lado noreste del edificio. (Posteriormente, se les indicará cómo llegar al área del evento).
Habrá estacionamientos limitados disponibles en el lado norte de la escuela, y estacionamientos adicionales en el lado oeste.

El objetivo general de la última sesión es finalizar las recomendaciones para un próximo informe a la Junta Educativa. Durante el taller comunitario, los asistentes podrán:

Revisar las Opciones Finales: Analizar las opciones generales para el futuro de las instalaciones del Distrito 300.

Elaborar las Recomendaciones de la Junta Educativa: Ayudar a determinar la mejor manera de proceder con los posibles proyectos de infraestructura y las diversas opciones de financiación asociadas al Plan Principal de Infraestructura. Los comentarios y las decisiones tomadas durante este taller serán fundamentales para la elaboración del informe formal que se presentará a la Junta Educativa del Distrito 300.
