Band

The 8th Grade Symphonic Band completed their IMEC Journey with a stirring concert in Peoria on Friday, January 30. We are so proud of you!
Our Jazz Ensembles are busy in February. The Matt Bishop Big Band attends the New Trier Jazz Festival on February 7 and performs at the Venue on February 22. The Ella Fitzgerald Big Band performs a concert on February 23 and attends the Rolling Meadows Jazz Festival on February 28.
The Spring Band Concert will be Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00pm in the JHS Auditorium.

Congratulations to our DMS Orchestra students who represented us well performing at the D300 Solo/Ensemble Festival. Bravo!!
D300 Summer Fine Arts Camp registration is open! If you are interested in signing up your future 7th or 8th grade student for summer orchestra, click this link. If your future 9th grade student is interested in mentoring for summer orchestra, please contact Mrs. Benge or Ms. Wood.
Our Winter Orchestra Concert is on March 5th, 2026, with our Spring Orchestra Concerts following on May 13th, 2026. We look forward to sharing our music with you!
Please have your student(s) check their concert attire! Red DMS Music polo, black dress pants or floor length skirt, black socks, and black dress shoes are required for all concerts.
Does your student love orchestra and want to play MORE? Please email either Ms. Wood or Mrs. Benge (or both!) for information about youth orchestras and/or private teachers in our area.
Reminder: Please ask your students about their orchestra materials. All students need to have binders. 6th grade students need to have their orchestra books from last year, Essential Elements for Strings Book 1. The 7th and 8th grade students need new method books for class as well as the books from last year. 7th grade orchestra students need Essential Elements Books 1 & 2 for their specific instrument. 8th grade students need Essential Elements Book 2 & Essential Technique Book 3 for their specific instrument.

Our spring concert is on Thursday March 12th at 7:00pm in the main gym. This will be a full night of Jazz music and also feature a song by Jacobs High School vocal jazz group Superscript 7. Students call time is 6:30pm and they wear their normal required uniform. Several students did not wear black dress shoes last concert. Please double check to make sure your child is in black flat dress shoes for the concert. No athletic shoes or boots please.
Bella Voce and Valiant Voices will perform at the Illinois Grade School Music Association Choral Contest on Saturday March 14th at Bernotas Middle School in Crystal Lake.
Bella Voce, along with Jacobs High School Bel Canto, will open up for Augustana College's Jenny Lind Ensemble on Friday March 20th at Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley at 7:00pm.
