Dear Dundee Middle School Parents and Guardians,
We invite you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey, a statewide effort to gather input from students, teachers, and parents on school climate and learning conditions. Your perspective is vital to our school's growth.
Why Your Participation is Critical This survey is based on over 30 years of research from the University of Chicago, which shows that schools strong in at least three of the "5Essentials" are 10 times more likely to make substantial gains in student learning, specifically in reading and math. By sharing your thoughts, you provide school leaders with critical input used to develop school improvement plans and guide future decisions.
Please note that for us to receive a specific Parent Report, we must reach a 20% parent participation threshold. Your identity and individual responses are kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
Summary of 2025 5Essentials Data for Dundee Middle School The 2025 results indicate that Dundee Middle School is currently moderately organized for improvement. Below is a summary of our performance across the five essential categories, all of which fall within the "Neutral" range:
• Collaborative Teachers (Score: 50): Reflects how teachers work together to promote professional growth.
• Involved Families (Score: 47): Measures how the staff builds relationships with parents and the community.
• Supportive Environment (Score: 44): Evaluates if the school is safe, demanding, and supportive for students.
• Ambitious Instruction (Score: 42): Assesses if classes are challenging and engaging.
• Effective Leaders (Score: 42): Measures how well principals and teachers work together toward a shared vision.
While all categories are currently rated as neutral, we saw positive growth in four out of five essentials compared to 2024. Our strongest individual measures included Collaborative Practices (59) and Teacher-Teacher Trust (53), while we identified areas for growth in Teacher Influence (32) and Academic Personalism (36).
