Service Opportunities
See below for a list of newly added service opportunities. You are invited to initiate your own service opportunities as long as they are appropriate and you are not paid for them. Remember that all service points must be signed for by an adult. Service points must be turned in prior to the end of the semester or by the given deadline. Be sure to plan in advance to complete your service points on time! (Your lack of planning is not someone else's emergency!) BGHS Saturday School:

BGHS Orchestras:
BGHS Orchestra needs volunteers for 2 upcoming events.
Event: 40th Annual Pops Concert
Date: Saturday, October 27th, 6-9 pm
Dress: Nicely
Roles: Help with concessions, seat patrons, sell items
Event: District 21/214
Date: Tuesday October 30th, 6-9 pm
Dress: Nicely
Roles: Hand out programs, help with seating, monitor doors, sell DQ blizzards at the end of the concert

Placement Testing:
BG is looking for approximately 20 volunteers to work the 8th grade placement testing October 27th. Volunteers will need to be available from 7 - 11 am. They will receive free t-shirts, 4 hours service AND breakfast!!! If interested please go to the assessment center and introduce yourselves to Mrs. Chybicki-Zimmer. More detailed info will be forthcoming closer to October.

Wings Program:
bsrb@wingsprogram.com WINGS Program is one of the largest domestic violence service and housing providers in the state of Illinois. Through the generous donations of our supporters, WINGS operates three resale shops located throughout the Northwest Chicago suburbs. The revenue from these shops is a major funding source to support our programs.
Volunteers will assist in sorting through the donations that will be distributed throughout our resale shops.

-Students could easily help out any weekday after school until 7:00 p.m., or on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
-Volunteer duties would include accepting and sorting donations, pricing and displaying merchandise, sales assistance, customer service, testing electronics, silk floral arranging, holiday decorating, and so much more

-Similar to FMST, Kids Against Hunger uses volunteers at local food packaging satellites to help provide scientifically formulated meals for children both in the United States, and 12 developing countries around the world.
PADS (Through Kingswood Church):

-Providing Advocacy Dignity and Shelter, PADS looks for volunteers in a few ways. You can help prepare bag lunches for one of their many day shelters, you can bring in a hot meal to serve on one of their family nights, or they also look for help in collecting various items off their donation list. This would entail going to neighbors, stores, or other people in your community with collection bins, gathering goods that the homeless shelters would find useful

-Community Threads is a local retail store on Rand & Arlington Heights Road that accepts walk-in volunteers at any time. All you need to do is fill out the form before doing so (which requires a parent signature).
