Hello! My name is Anastasia Boring and I am an 18 year old senior at CLC. I joined a newspaper my freshman year hoping to get involved with something throughout the school. I had no clue what I was doing when I first joined. I was a nervous wreck. When I got my first writing assignment and free reign on how I wrote it, I really discovered my passion. I was on and off through my sophomore year involving the newspaper. Now as a senior I'm excited to be back and writing new pieces again. Being a part of the newspaper really taught me new methods to writing, teamwork, and deadlines. When I’m not writing articles or bugging people for quotes, you’ll probably find me reading, hanging out with friends, or stress-writing college essays. I'm excited for what this year has in store for me.
Tiger Tales 2025-2026 (Anastasia Boring)
Hello Tigers! Welcome to our first official Senior Tiger Tale of the year. Each week we will highlight one senior and celebrate their accomplishments that shaped their high school career. We're kicking this week off with Katie Carlson, a student who's made the most out of every opportunity. We’ve asked 5 questions to get a better understanding of those opportunities.
What is something you’ve done in high school that you’re really proud of? Throughout high school, I had the opportunity to serve as our first student athletic trainer at CLC. Through this experience I got hands-on training with taping up athletes, helping on the sidelines, and supporting teams during practices and games. I am thankful for my former trainer Danielle who sparked my interest in athletic training.
What’s a challenge you faced in high school, and what did it teach you about yourself? As a student and athlete I have faced multiple challenges including multiple injuries. Through my setbacks I have learned patience, resilience, and the importance of giving myself grace. These setbacks have fueled my passion more, I've worked hard after my ACL surgery to get back into my routine.
What is a goal you’re excited to work toward after graduation, and how do you hope it will help you grow? ( what college will you be attending or future career plans?) After graduation, I am attending Florida Gulf Coast University, where I will study Exercise Science. I hope my new perspective will continue as I embrace college.
Who is someone you would like to shout out to for supporting you through your high school years? I wouldn't be where I am today without my family and friends who supported me through my journey. I also want to thank the staff at CLC who have guided me towards new things. As a mentor today I get to make those connections with other students. Having that one person can make a huge difference.
What is your favorite high school memory? When it comes to memories, I couldn't pick just one. My favorite comes from staying involved through the school with my 3 sports, 4 clubs, and role as athletic trainer. Always busy, but always worth it! From a young athlete with big dreams to the leader she is today, Katie shows her passion, perseverance, and kindness to everyone she meets.
Be sure to check her throwback picture to see just how young she was when her journey began. This concludes our first Senior Tiger Tale stay tuned for next week! If you’re interested in being the next senior standout contact Mrs.Richardson or sign up through posters in study hall areas.
Welcome back! One senior, one shout out, and lots to celebrate. Let's give our love to one senior who made his marks in the best way. So without further ado- Ayden Butler.
What is something you’ve done in high school that you’re really proud of?
Throughout high school I’ve kept my grades up finishing my classwork on time. I also have a pretty high GPA, something I didn't think I could do.
What’s a challenge you faced in high school, and what did it teach you about yourself?
I used to procrastinate and stay up late to finish assignments, which threw off my sleep schedule and mindset. Realizing I wasn't in a great headspace pushed me to take time for myself, and this semester I’ve seen real change in myself. I still slip up sometimes, but learning from those mistakes helped me grow into a better student.
Who is someone you would like to shout out to for supporting you through your high school years? Mr. Thomas has had a lasting impact on me both socially and emotionally throughout high school. During a difficult day junior year, he noticed I was struggling, took the time to listen to me, reminded me of my worth, and showed me genuine kindness. Later that day he gave me a note that said “Run your race” ; a reminder I still keep with me and will take to college as a symbol of everything he taught me. What is your favorite high school memory?: spirit days, sport games, club activities, etc At Dunk the Deans 2024, I tried to dunk Officer Demitri in the dunk tank. Even though I didn't dunk him, he invited me to help volunteer, gave me a t-shirt, and made my day. He always greeted me with fist bumps and kindness. He stood up for me when it mattered and left a lasting impact. That shirt still reminds me of him, and he inspired me to become a police officer.
And that’s Ayden Butler—proof that growth, grit, and a little self-awareness go a long way. From leveling up his GPA to finding his rhythm, learning when to push and when to pause, and keeping his eyes locked on big goals, Ayden’s run is just getting started. UW–Whitewater is lucky to have him, and law enforcement better get ready.
