Meet the Newspaper Club!

Hello! My name is Anastasia Boring and I am an 18 year old senior at CLC. I joined a newspaper my freshman year hoping to get involved with something throughout the school. I had no clue what I was doing when I first joined. I was a nervous wreck. When I got my first writing assignment and free reign on how I wrote it, I really discovered my passion. I was on and off through my sophomore year involving the newspaper. Now as a senior I'm excited to be back and writing new pieces again. Being a part of the newspaper really taught me new methods to writing, teamwork, and deadlines. When I’m not writing articles or bugging people for quotes, you’ll probably find me reading, hanging out with friends, or stress-writing college essays. I'm excited for what this year has in store for me. 

Hi everyone!  My name is Annabella Getty and I am a 16-year-old Junior. In Newspaper club, I am the Digital Editorial Chief which means I help out with organizing and designing the site as well as handling our social media activity. Basically, I take all of the amazing work that our student writers (and guest writers) do and put them in their correct format with all their similar articles and then advertise them!  I also write some short snippets on our homepage about upcoming and past events. Hi! My name is Emma Hartwig, and I am a junior at CLC. I have always been passionate about writing and plan on becoming an author and novelist after graduation. This is my third year on the newspaper club, and I am so excited to begin my leadership role as co-president of the club this year! I write mostly informational pieces about everything happening at CLC and also occasionally write poetry. I can't wait to continue writing for CLC this year! Go Tigers! 

Hello! I'm Brooklyn Hui and I am a freshman hoping to put stories and books out into the world. I enjoy writing and drawing, and I've already decided I want to be an author when I grow up. Here, my goal is to publish little short stories either monthly or weekly.

Hi! My name is Jaden Hui! I am a 18 year old nior with cool, totally not annoying 3 sisters (I’m kidding! Only sometimes). I like to draw, play video games, like Fortnite, and watch tv shows and movies. I also sometimes like to read and I can solve a rubix cube, which I figured out from lots of youtube tutorials. I have really cool and nice friends, my favorite foods consist mainly of chicken and steak, and my all time favorite movie is Ratatouille. 

Unfortunately, I am not like other kids, and I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Basically, the reason that I am in a wheelchair and why I cannot stand up. Fortunately, I don’t let it stop me from being happy and having a great life! Besides, scientists are getting closer to finding a cure for me and other boys like me, so it’s something to look forward to! I am so excited to be part of the Tiger News and become the school's movie critic! After all, I am a big movie buff and I do love some fun movies! 

Hey Tigers! I’m Ella Hutchins, and I am your honest book reviewer. Dear my roaring readers, I am a junior here at Crystal Lake Central and I love reading and writing! My English teacher, Mrs. Richardson introduced me to the Newspaper Club freshman year, where CLC students of all ages and interests have creative writing opportunities relating to whatever interests them. I am so excited to share with you all my favorite books and authors! 

Hello all! I'm Addison Justen, a 14 year old freshman here at Crystal Lake Central. I work with non-fiction reporters and journalists, which means I help raise awareness about school events, spirit weeks, club activities, etc. Basically, if something super cool or noteworthy happens at Central, I'll be there writing about it! Outside of the newspaper club, I am a dancer (involved in lyrical, ballet, and hip hop), a first class BSA scout, and also involved in yearbook and interact club! When I'm not doing anything, I love sleeping, painting, shopping, and listening to music. Some of my favorite music artists are Laufey, Radiohead, Paramore, Mitski, and David Bowie. I'm so excited to work with the amazing people here in the newspaper club and I can't wait to see where this opportunity will take me!

Hi! I'm Kaitlyn Kaiser, a 16 year old Junior. I love writing poetry and use it to help me through difficult times whether that be medical struggles or just difficult emotions. This is my first year in newspaper club which was recommended to me while trying to start a poetry club.

I especially love working on the graphic design parts, as it's so much fun thinking of and creating fun-looking themes to make our socials and site all the more appealing.
