The guard is comprised of any interested CLC students in grades 9-12 who are eager to develop a new skill, make meaningful friendships, and have a desire to learn and work as a team! No experience is necessary, and students can join any year in their high school career.
The color guard is a section of the Marching Tiger Band. To tell the story of the music, and enhance the visual effect of the marching show, the color guard performs rehearsed flag choreography.
As a part of the Tiger Band, they perform at all home football games, local marching band festivals, pep assemblies, and in the Homecoming and Memorial Day parades.
The color guard season starts in April to prepare for the Memorial Day parade. Rehearsals and performances continue through October, finishing after the completion of home football games, and the CLC Marching Band Festival. They rehearse twice weekly with the marching band, and often meet for sectionals to receive guard-specific instruction.
In the color guard, students are provided a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment where they will grow as people and as performers. Students will also develop technical skills that allow them to continue performing in the color guard activity throughout and even after high school. Additionally, members are consistently working towards achieving personal and whole-group goals. This allows for students to gain interpersonal skills, while learning how to be responsible, goal-oriented, and loyal teammates. Most importantly, students do color guard because they get to have FUN, meet new FRIENDS, and make lots of MEMORIES!
