Four of fifteen finalist teams in the Modeling The Future Challenge finals are from Stevenson! The Modeling the Future Challenge is a real-world competition for high school students that combines math modeling, data analysis, and risk management. The teams conducted their own research project modeling real-world data. The finalists are in the running for $60,000 in scholarships!
Diana Tang (Jr) and Qi Zhang (Jr) comprised Team Calc with the project topic “Fighting Diabetes: An Analysis of Risk and Solutions to America’s Diabetes Crisis.”
Lillian Wang (Jr), Jaden Chen (Jr), Audrey Hong (Jr), and Aaroh Tak (Jr) comprised Team JALA with the project topic “Risk Analysis of the Causes of Food Deserts.”
Angela Guo (Sr), Aaron Gan (Sr), Vidushi Gupta (Sr), Jeffrey Lu (Sr), and Ethan Zhang (Sr) comprised Team Modeling Megaminds with the project topic “The Math Behind the Mass: An Investigation of Obesity Dynamics.”
Vedant Rathi (Sr), Chinmay Bandapalli (Sr), Krish Chatterjee (Sr), and Aarush Katta (Sr) comprised Team Immortal Man with the project topic “Guardians of the Digital Galaxy: Predictive Modeling for Cyberbullying Prevention.”

On March 7, Stevenson traveled to Glenbrook South High School for the fifth and final conference meet of the school year.
The freshman team tied for first place with 63 out of 75 points, and the sophomore team placed first with 69 out of 75 points, leading the SHS team to an overall second-place finish with 229 points out of 300, two points behind Walter Payton. Eric Zhang (Fr), Jonathan He (So), Angela Ho (So), and Jaden Chen (Jr) all had perfect papers.
Stevenson finished the 2023-24 NSML season 2nd in the conference with 1435 points out of 1700, five points behind first-place Walter Payton. Stevenson’s teams finished as follows:
Orals: T-4th, 181 points out of 200
Freshmen: 1st, 348 points out of 375
Sophomore: T-1st, 341 points out of 375
Juniors: 2nd, 304 points out of 375
Seniors: 5th, 261 points out of 375
On Feb. 24, Stevenson hosted the ICTM Regional (Region 12) meet and placed first in all contests on-site. The Stevenson Freshman, Calculator, Frosh-Soph 8-Person, and Oralist teams placed first across the entire state.

With their team qualifying score of 1016 points out of 1150, the SHS Math Team will move on to the ICTM State meet in Bloomington-Normal in April.
On Feb. 1, Stevenson traveled to Libertyville High School for the fourth conference meet of the school year. Stevenson either tied for first or placed first outright in all grades on-site, with a first-place, on-site, team total of 282 points out of 350.
Jaden Chen (Jr) had the top site-score among oralist presenters with 46 out of 50 possible points. Amritha Praveen (Fr), Eric Zhang (Fr), Jonathan He (So), and Angela Ho (So) all had perfect papers.
Across the conference, Stevenson had the second-best total team score of the night. Heading into the final conference meet on March 7, Stevenson (1206) trails Walter Payton (1209) by only three points, a single-question difference.
Stevenson hosted the third conference meet of the school year. The team had a great night, placing 1st on-site with 308 out of 350 points. Fremd placed second with 222.
Jaden Chen (Jr) had the top site-score among oralist presenters with 46 out of 50 possible points. Amritha Praveen (Fr), Eric Zhang (Fr), Angela Ho (So), Richard Xu (So), Tamoghna Dutta (Jr), and Lillian Wang (Jr) all had perfect papers.
