Preparing for the Transition to Stevenson High School

As your child prepares to transition to Stevenson High School, our Special Education and 8th-grade teams are working together to support a smooth and successful transition.

Fall and Winter Articulation Activities

During the fall and winter, SHS and 8th grade staff will:

• Review student information: Case managers and related service staff will meet to review IEPs, evaluations, classes, and current functioning.

• Discuss course recommendations: SHS special education instructional teachers will collaborate with 8th-grade teachers to review student work and discuss class recommendations.

• Visit 8th grade classrooms: SHS staff will observe some students in their current classrooms to better understand their learning styles, strengths, and support needs.

• Share registration information: SHS divisions will provide families with information about registration, residency, course selection, and other important steps. Please be sure to review and complete all required forms.

These collaborative efforts help us prepare for January course selection and ensure that recommendations are individualized to each student's needs.

We will continue to share information with families throughout the fall as we move closer to course selection and the transition to Stevenson.
