Our Stevenson High School (SHS) and 8th grade teams are working together to help make your student’s transition to high school as smooth as possible.
1. Families receive registration information
SHS will send families important information about registration, residency, course selection, and other enrollment steps. Please read all communications carefully and complete required forms by the listed deadlines.
2. Review your student’s course selection sheet - SAMPLE (coming soon)
When you receive your student’s course selection sheet in the mail, you will notice that some courses are identified as “Placement” and others as “Recommendation.”
Placement: This is a required course for your student. Please do not cross out courses listed as “Placement.”
Recommendation: This course is strongly encouraged based on your student’s current needs and information.
Please note: World History & Geography is a graduation requirement, but it may be taken during either the freshman or sophomore year.
If World History (SOC1NX) appears under the Elective category, this means that if you choose for your student to take World History during freshman year, the Special Education/Collaborative World History course is the recommended placement rather than the general education course.
Use information from your student’s current school experience to help develop an individualized plan for a successful transition to Stevenson High School.
