Band Awards

BAND LETTERS & SERVICE BARS

For each year and extra-curricular activity that students are involved in they earn points toward their band letter. In order to earn a band letter, students need to accumulate a minimum of 50 points by the end of their senior year. For every additional 20 points students earn above 50, they will earn a band bar. Assuming that the student does not miss a single performance over the course of the year they will earn 12 points per school year.

Below is a partial list of ways students can earn points during the school year doing activities that are above and beyond participation in your regular band class:

  • Marching Band Section Leader

  • Pep Band (attending 80% of the games)

  • Jazz Band

  • Musical Pit

  • Performing at optional performance opportunities

  • D118 Festival Solo or Ensemble

  • Auditioning for IMEA All-District 7 Band

  • Making the IMEA All-District 7 and/or All State Band
