  • August 2022: Welcome two new graduate students, Britta Larson (WRS MS) and Mohammad Jahid Ibney Jabed (CE MS) to our lab!

  • January 2022: Katie Cassidy took part in a weeklong webinar, Wisconsin Salt Awareness Week: Recognizing the importance of salt usage by presenting her research to public. Check out the event (the presentations are posted in youtube).

  • December 2021: Shawnee McMillian successfully defended her WRS MS thesis, Water Chemisty and Microbial Nitrogen Cycling in Wild Rice Wetlands.

  • November 2021: Kaite Cassidy won the first place for the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition at UMD and advaced to the University wide competition: Environmental Impacts of Application of Potassium Acetate as a Deicer Congratulations!

  • November 2021: Katie presented her research (one orral and one poster) at SETAC North American 42nd Annual Meeting on Nov 14-18, 2021

  • November 2021: Chun's research story was featured by the University.

  • July 2021: Lisa DeGuire successfully defended her WRS MS thesis, From Shipping to Swimming: Bacterial Monitoring and Diversity in Ballast Treatment System and Recreational Water.

  • July 2021: We have successfully deployed a pilot-scale biological sulfate treatment system coupled with iron-based sulfide immobilization at Minnsota Power Boswell Energy Center.

  • May 2021: Welcome to our lab!! New graduate student, Anna Totsch in the UMN WRS program

  • April 2021: Congratulations! Tobin Deen successfully defended his CE MS thesis, Mathematical Modeling of an Electrode-Integrated Fixed-Bed Bioreactor for Treatment of Sulfate

  • Oct 25-26, 2019: Hosting an annual meeting of North Central Branch of American Society of Microbiology at Duluth. Adelle Keppers and Tyler Untiedt have presented their research. Adelle Keppers won 3rd place in graduate oral presentation in North Central Branch of American Society of Microbiology. Congratulations!

  • September 2019: Congratulations! Jacob Daire successfully defended his CE MS thesis, Products and evolving reactivity of natural iron-bearing minerals toward sulfide.
