I learned how to animate.
What did I find the most challenging?
The most challenging part about this project is figuring out what you want your character to look like.
What do I like about this project?
What I really liked about this project is how creative you can be with pixels. I'm not used to doing digital art I usually prefer drawing on paper, but I really enjoyed doing this project overall. It was something new for me.
How would I improve?
If I were to re-do this project and fix it, I would animate it more and add a more colorful background so it can stand out more. Overall, I really liked out it turned out.
How did you keep the style consistent within your artwork? I kept my own style consistent by using shapes like circles, triangles, and rectangles. I also used different colors on each emoji like black, white, red, and orange.
What was your inspiration for creating these emoji's? I created these emojis because of a band I liked that is from the 70's-90's. The band is named KISS and they're known for their iconic makeup and music.
Which is your favorite emoji and why? Personally, I really like all 3 of the emojis that I created. I loved the way they turned out!
How might these emoji's be misinterpreted to someone else? These emojis might be misinterpreted by someone else because they might think they're some sort of weird animal or monster. They're not instantly gonna know what my typical theme in mind was.
What does your tattoo represent?
My tattoo represents Rock n Roll.
How is this tattoo symbolic to you?
My tattoo is symbolic to me because it represents one of my favorite bass players named Nikki Sixx, he has a similar bass guitar to the one I designed. It also represents rock n' roll because I enjoy rock music.
What was the most challenging part of this assignment?
The most challenging part of the assignment was what exactly I wanted to design for my tattoo.
What location did you pick? Why did you pick this location? I chose Freddy Fazbears because it's a game I grew up with when I was younger. I wanted to choose something unique and make something creative out of it even though it's not a real place.
Who would you send your postcard to? Why? I would send my postcard to my sister because she loves Five Nights at Freddy's as much as I do. We both grew up with it.
Are you happy with your design? Why or why not? I'm very happy with the design I created. I loved how it turned out! I tried to be creative as much as possible to make it stand out.
Animation is challenging. What did you find the most challenging part of this assignment? The most challenging part of the assignment is having to redraw each frame of your animation, it's exhausting.
Are you happy with your results? Did you push yourself to create something awesome? How did you demonstrate that you tried your best? If you didn't try your best, why not? In the middle, it is a little sloppy and looks rushed. I did take my time to do the frames though! I'm not used to animation so it's not that professional.
What part of your GIF are you the most proud of? Be descriptive. I'm most proud of the eyes, making the character blink her eyes wasn't easy.
Did you enjoy this assignment? Why or why not? Please explain. I wasn't a big fan of it, but it was alright. I'm not used to animating so it was my first time doing one.
If you had the chance to redo this assignment, what part of it would you change? If I could redo this assignment, I'd make it look more professional and less sloppy.
What art style did you borrow from? Why did you pick this art style? The art style I borrowed is from Scott Pilgrim a show on Netflix. I chose this art style because I thought it was unique and fun to draw!
What family members did you choose to draw? Who are they? I chose to draw my mom, dad, sister, and myself.
Do they look like your family members? Why or why not? They do look like my family members. It was fun to draw them, I know how they dress and their style!
What animals did you combine together?
I combined a lion, hyena, goat, dik-dik, and a cat.
Why did you decide to combine these animals together?
I decided to combine these animals because I thought it would be fun to Photoshop, and it would look very strange and unusual.
What is the name of your new animal?
The name of my animal is called Lienadigoat.
Do you think this creature could survive in the real world? Why or why not?
I think this creature would survive in the real world because it looks scary and big.
Why is photo-manipulation such an important issue today?
Photo manipulation is an issue today because people believe everything they see without doing research or thinking about it first.
What type of planet did you decide to create? Would you inhabit this planet? Tell us a little bit about it.
I created a Mario-themed planet because I thought it would be fun to create! I wouldn't inhabit in this planet because I don't want to be in battle with Bowser!
Why did you decide to create this planet? What makes it personal and unique to you?
I decided to create this planet because I enjoy playing the Mario games, my dad introduced me to it too since he grew up with it himself during the 90's.
Please explain what you found the most challenging out of this project. What could you have done to improve this?
The most challenging part about this project was the theme you wanted to do, I had a really hard time figuring out what exactly I wanted to create. I used drop shadows to make it seem more natural and unique plus shaded in the volcano texture with the grass to make it seem more natural. I should have made the fire look more natural too and add more detail to Princess Peaches side, that's something I regret not doing.
Reflect on your experience using the pen tool in Illustrator to create your landmark poster. What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?
There was a lot of challenges when using the pen tool in Illustrator, at times it was a big hard to control it. I had to use multiple layers for each shape so I wouldn't overlap other things I created. I managed to overcome it by locking my layers and naming them.
Consider the significance of the iconic landmarks you chose to include in your poster. How did you ensure that your representation accurately captured the essence and recognizability of each landmark?
I ensured that my landmark was accurate and recognizable by putting things that were most known in Liverpool. Such as the famous building known in Liverpool and The Beatles which is a famous band who comes from Liverpool.
Describe the creative decisions you made regarding composition, color choice, and typography in your poster design. How did these choices enhance the overall visual impact and convey the intended message or theme?
I tried to be as creative as I could with my poster design, I looked further into actual places in Liverpool to make it as accurate as possible. I chose famous things from Liverpool such as the iconic building with the clock on it and put The Beatles walking across the road inspired by their well-known album Abbey Road.
Reflect on the process of translating a physical landmark into a digital artwork. What aspects of the landmark's architecture or cultural significance did you prioritize in your design, and how did you incorporate these elements effectively?
It was hard having to make a physical landmark into a digital poster, I picked the most famous things that are well-known in Liverpool. I made the design look similar to the actual place.
Consider the role of digital art in contemporary communication and expression. How does your poster contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding these iconic landmarks, and what message or narrative does it convey to viewers?
My poster fits into the world of digital art because it shows the beauty of Liverpool how interesting Liverpool is and what it's known for. People might even want to look more into Liverpool if they're interested.
Does the cover effectively capture the essence or central theme of the book?
Yes, the cover captures the central theme of the book. You can see figures such as a creepy hand and face that represents the devil in the story which is one of the main characters. The black and red are used to show the creepiness in the story, showing that it's filled with mystery.
How does the cover appeal to the target audience or intended readership?
By the appearance of the book, it should attract an audience because they might find it interesting and may even be interested in buying it. Just by the way it looks you can probably tell that it's a book filled with mystery & horror.
Is the cover visually engaging and aesthetically pleasing?
The cover creates an eye-catching image, readers can visualize what the book is going to be about just by looking at the cover and its summary in the back. With its dark colors red and black, it shows that the book is going to be filled with mystery.
What principles of Design did you use in your book cover? Describe where you used them in your design.
One principle of design that I used on my book cover is contrast. On all the book covers I created, I flipped around the black and red. Two of the covers had black colored font while one had red colored font instead and the images.
What Elements of Art did you use for your book cover?
One element of art that is shown in my book cover is texture. I used texture on the hands, horse, and devil face, you can see that I put red on it as if it looked like splattered paint.
