Since the Alexandria catalog was updated, the links to specific books and lists have changed. They will be updated (eventually!) but meanwhile, you can use these suggestions to find titles, then search for them in the catalog.
Search for books, authors, genres, or topics that match reading interests. This database can help you answer the question: "What should I read next?"
There will be more links to lists in the updated online catalog as soon as Mrs. Kissel has time to create them!
Have you read a book so good you think everyone you know should read it, too? Or a book that others who share your taste would appreciate? Let them know what was awesome about the books you enjoyed by submitting book reviews that can be read on the library catalog (if it's a book our library owns) and/or on the CVSU Reads blog.
How do you do it? There are a few ways. You can log in to your account on Alexandria, the library circulation program, and submit a review from there. Or you can email your review to Mrs. Kissel. Either way, she will copy and paste it so it will appear in both the catalog and the blog.
How to write reviews on Alexandria:
Search for the book, then click on the stars to the right of the title and the reviews box will pop up.
If you are already logged in, click “Write Your Own Review!” and you can get started writing. Make sure to click on the number of stars you want to rate the book.
If you are not already logged in, just click “Login to write review” and it will ask for your username and password. Your username is the same ID number you use to log into Tyler SIS to check your grades; the password is your last name. Cant remember your ID number? Ask Mrs. Kissel.
The reviews will not appear for others to see until they have been approved, but after that happens, everyone using the catalog will be able to see your review.
While you are logged in, you can see a list of the reviews you have submitted, from which you can edit reviews you haven't finished working on and check the status of each review -- has it been approved or do you need to edit it a bit?
After your review has been approved on Alexandria, Mrs. Kissel will copy it into the CVSU Reads blog.
Please let Mrs. Kissel know and she will set up search buttons for the lists you want!
The image below shows the lists that were available in the older version of the catalog. These (and/or others) could be added.
The Green Mountain Book Award is Vermont's student-choice book award for grades 9-12.
The Golden Dome Book Award is Vermont's student-choice book award for grades 4-8.
Breaking news:
“The Vermont Golden Dome Book Award” is the new name for this award, which was formerly called the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award.
More coming soon! If you have suggestions for lists you'd like to see, please email your ideas to Mrs. Kissel.
