The GNED 09, Rizal's Life and Works was a really interesting subject especially that the information about Rizal that we had before was not that much. Through this site, we could know him better, his family, education, life abroad, death, as well as his notable works.
Dr. Jose Rizal was known as the Philippine National Hero. Everyone knows his bravery in using his pen as his sword against the Spaniards. Filipinos celebrate his birthday every 19th of June and commemorate his death every 30th of December, also known as Rizal’s day. Moreover, the aspirational line for the youth also came from him “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.” With this site, we could get to know him better. Meanwhile, the content of this site was based on my own learning and understanding as we have studied the life and works of Rizal. Indeed, his life and achievements were so amazing, full of patriotism and bravery, despite his experience under the colonization of the Spaniards. HAPPY READING!
Good day! I am Mary Grace Cortez, a pre-service teacher, majoring in English and currently studying at Cavite State University-General Trias City Campus. I was born on June 18, 1999, in Caloocan, Metro Manila and I am now 22 years old. I started to love English because of my hobby of watching Korean dramas. However, as I started to take up a Bachelor of Secondary Education-Major in English I realized that English is difficult to learn, especially since you only rely on the subtitles of what you have watched. Similarly, in studying Rizal’s life and works, I could say that we could not know him better if we will just trust secondary sources about him. Thus, reading his notable works is the most effective way to know his characteristics not only as a countryman but also as someone who has a love and connection for his country.
