CVSD Habits of Learning Targets: Grades 5-8
This year, in addition to subject-area Common Targets, many of your child’s teachers will report on common habits targets at the end of each trimester. You might remember these targets from past years, but this year we have made a shift in how we are reporting about these.
A year ago, we moved to a different scale for measuring and reporting habits at the high school, and the shift has been positively received by families, students, and teachers. So this year at the middle schools, we are going to make the same shift. Instead of using the 1-4 complexity scales that we use with our academic targets, we are moving to the three level effectiveness scale that you see below.
The three Habits of Learning (HOL) Targets are:
CVSD Habit: Participation: I participate by collaborating productively in a variety of settings with respect, care, and curiosity.
CVSD Habit: Preparation: I come to class with the materials and mindset I need to learn.
CVSD Habit: Work Completion: I complete my work on time with attention to detail and quality.
All three targets use this scale:
Effectiveness Scale for Reporting on Habits:
H This habit hinders my learning and/or the class environment.
S This habit supports my learning and/or the class environment.
E This habit enhances my learning and/or the class environment.
When you see the targets in the JumpRope portal or on reports, here is what it will look like:
