Asma is a community development strategist and analyst with more than 15 years of experience in conflict transformation, peace-building, leadership and community coalition building, training and capacity building, project management, gender mainstreaming, inclusive adult education, intercultural communication, monitoring and evaluation, and policy advocacy. She served in relief and development programs in national, international, and United Nations agencies. She has extensive experience with management, design, implementation, facilitation, and co-facilitation of conflict analysis, conflict transformation and peacebuilding, humanitarian coordination, and financial literacy/capability training and coaching. Asma has a master’s degree in intercultural service leadership and management and a doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy studies.

CVSD's Engagement Facilitators support faculty and staff in enhancing student engagement through the ICPD (Identity, Connection, Proficiency, and Direction) Framework. This role promotes innovative educational practices, fosters equitable learning environments, and strengthens community engagement. The facilitator collaborates with educators, administrators, and families to design impactful learning experiences while addressing systemic barriers to equitable learning opportunities.
Connecting Youth (CY) promotes a culture that develops in our youth the power and conviction to make healthy choices.
CY encompasses CVSD's Student Assistance Programs (SAP), Mentoring Programs, Youth Empowerment and Prevention Education.
Multilingual Learners are students who are learning social, instructional, and academic English as an additional language, and who are consistently exposed to another language at home and/or in their community.
Multilingual Learners bring a rich diversity of languages and cultures to our school district, enhancing the educational experience for all. Our district is committed to providing MLLs with the resources and support they need to thrive academically and socially.
CVSD students and families can access support services and advocacy with community agencies and resources.
These programs provides support to students and families experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, food insecurity, and other challenges of daily living, as well as supports for the unique needs of migrant families, families of multilingual learners, and systemic barriers to student success. The position serves as a bridge between schools, families and community agencies ensuring access to resources and advocating for underserved populations.
