Belonging, connection, and personalized feedback create engagement and accelerate academic and social/emotional growth. Every day between the third and fourth block, we have a built in time for Connect, Clubs, and Communities. By providing C3 Time within the school day we increase equity of access to these opportunities and improve proficiency, social emotional learning, and engagement for all students in a much more intentional way.
Connect
Connect is available for teachers and students Monday-Thursday. Teachers can select which days they are available and there are some limits around student availability to allow access to Clubs and Community. Students use their Advisory Executive Functioning Time on Mondays to do the initial scheduling for their week.
Clubs
In order to increase opportunity and equity, clubs meet during the school day. Students can select multiple clubs to be a part of and schedule themselves into these during Advisory Executive Functioning Time on Mondays. Most clubs meet multiple days to ensure greater access, and most have multiple advisors to increase flexibility.
Community
When and if students are not in a club or at connect, they are part of a designated community space. Community spaces are developed around shared interests and are less structured than clubs. Note: In order to ensure a smooth build-up to full C3 implementation, this third C will not begin until later in the first quarter, and the advisory space is the default for all students not involved in a club or connect.
