Heredity
Evolution and Earth History
Motion and Energy
Waves
Earth’s Place in the Universe
Human Impact on the Environment
Google Classroom vs. Aeries Parent Portal
I post all assignments to Google Classroom, along with the necessary information to complete them. I use the Aeries portal for reporting grades. Please check Aeries to know what assignments have been graded. If you want to learn specific information about any assignment, check Google Classroom.
Grades
Grades will be calculated based on total points earned.
In other words: 99 - 100% = A+, 90 - 98% = A, 80 - 89% = B, 70 - 79% = C, 60 - 69% = D, and below 60% is an “F”. Each assignment will have its own point value.
Retake/Retest Opportunity
Students earning below 60% on a test can increase their score by completing a retest.
A different test will be used for all retakes/retests. It will cover the same content.
Student must show me they understand the content by correctly explaining questions they missed.
Only one retest opportunity per test will be given.
Assignments available for retest/retake are at the teacher’s discretion.
Requirements for test retakes:
1. Students will email Ms. Brown requesting a retest. I will let them know if/when a retest is available.
2. Students will receive (via email) a copy of their test. Incorrect answers will be marked but the correct answers will not be given. Students must find the correct answers and work to understand why they missed those questions. Students should use their notes, agenda information, etc, to correct their test.
3. Students must show Ms. Brown that they have made an effort to learn the content they missed by taking NEW NOTES on that content. The corrected test may count as “new notes”.
Deadline to complete a retake is 1 week after grades are posted in Aeries. End-of-semester and end-of-year deadlines will be shorter.
Additional information:
All retests will happen during science class time.
All retests must be completed in one class period.
Your final grade will be the higher score.
Looking forward to a good year together!
