Over the years, the engineering program has been in many different places, like portables and now the 400 hall.
It has seen upgrades with equipment and new furniture, but the setup hasn't always been super efficient.
But we are here to change that now.
At the very beginning...
The Engineering class had just moved into the space in the beginning of 2020. There was no plan in the layout when we moved in so items were just placed without thinking of how the space would be used in the future. There were barely any tables, resulting in students working on the floor. Due to just moving in as well, a lot of tools were still packed away, and were VERY slowly getting taken out and finding a temporary home with the bare shelfed space.
In terms of organization, there were many of the clear bins all over the room, and things were slowly being put into the shelves that were built into the space. Three black shelves were also built in this time, which tools would be tossed onto without a thought
Then the COVID Lockdown hit.
Kids lost access to the workshop, so while there were not kids to mess things up, there was no one to fix and clean things up either.
In the past years since lockdown...
From 2021-2023, the Makerspace has just gained more and more materials, equipment, tables, shelves, and projects done, all without a plan with what to do with them. This resulted in them being placed in general areas, underutilizing the space that we had been given back in 2020.
Small attempts had been made to organize some things, like containers of screws, fixing up the shelves here and there, but nothing substantial nor permanent.
