Google Meet can restrict video lessons to students that have a google account at our school. There is no way to "zoom bomb" a google meet and for this reason alone, we recommend Google Meet over zoom. However, Google Meet has many limitations compared to Zoom. At this point, Zoom offers breakout rooms, the ability to mute all students, integration with AirPlay and second monitors, and a better grid view. Yet, many of these features can be added to Google Meet (and Google has said they are planning on adding more features soon).
Below you will find the two "key" extensions that we highly recommend (Grid view and Attendance) and a third option for breakout rooms.

There was an older google meet grid view extension that no longer works correctly. When google meet introduced their own "tile" view, they broke the extension. This new extension works simply and well:

You can use the following extension to track who shows up in a google meet. If you save the list for each period, it will give a checkmark to students who come to class and show you who does not. This extension can also track when students arrive, which is great for tardies.
