In this course, we will study different cultures through literary works in order to develop our understanding of our local and global communities. We have four desired academic goals this year:
To closely read a text, understanding its historical context and impact today and assessing how it contributes to today’s cross-cultural conversation
To write competent academic essays while developing your unique voice
To further increase your mastery of the English language
To both broaden and deepen your intellectual life through works of fiction and non-fiction

Language, Gender, and Culture and Happiness nonfiction selections
Short stories, poems, and other texts by various authors
*Other texts may be added to the course content as needed, and as time allows. Various thematically-related short stories, poems, essays and articles will also be read.
