ERWC

Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) is a college preparatory class designed to help students access the sort of reading and writing required in a university setting and the work world. In this course, we will focus on expository reading as a springboard for meaningful discussions, various forms of writing, artistic expression, and presentations. Through our analyses, interpretations, discussions, questions, additional readings, and intellectual curiosity, we will seek the author’s purpose in the works we read and model writing after this work. Additionally, we will focus on improving grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, test-taking, and study skills.

Texts*:

  • Into the Wild – Jon Krakauer

* ERWC was designed through collaboration between representatives of California State University system and California high schools. For this reason, you will focus on many college-level articles rather than full-length novels and plays.
