Ways to Help Students

Homework Help Tips for Parents:

  • Create a homework routine for your child if you don't already have one. Open binder reminders to review and discuss homework each night.

  • Provide a quiet, well-lit place for your child to do homework. Help your child to set up the homework zone in a way that’s comfortable for his/her style.

  • Encourage your child to do his/her best work and let your child know that you believe he or she can succeed with time and effort.

  • If your child gets stuck on a problem, have your child access his/her online textbooks for homework help and hints. Their math notebooks and toolkits are excellent resources as well.

  • Some assignments may be easy, and others, quite challenging. Help your child to learn to persevere rather than shut down when challenged by a difficult task. Suggest using a different approach or suggest he/she give the problem a rest and come back to it after thinking about it for a while.
