Our Curriculum: CPM - Core Connections, Course 1
Each student has a textbook and a toolkit
Every student also has access to the online component by logging on to ebooks.cpm.org with their Google Student Account (*Make sure to sign out of your personal gmail accounts so that students can log on to their school Google accounts to access the eBook.)
Math Notebook: graph composition books
Students will be expected to work in their math notebooks to explore their mathematical thinking. The left page is for class tasks and the right page is for completing homework assignments.
I will be checking math notebooks for organization, effort, and content.
Homework: Assigned about 3- 4 days a week
Students are expected to copy their homework assignment into their binder reminders at the beginning of class.
Homework is due the next day at the beginning of the period.
Assignments need to be completed neatly and written in pencil.
Students must show their work so that I know the process that was used in solving the problem.
Homework is about learning and is meant for practice.
Grades: Students' report card grade will be based on the math concepts they have learned.
Every student will have the opportunity to demonstrate their level of content mastery throughout the semester.
Each content area will be graded on a 0-4 rubric scale:
3.5 - 4.0 = A
2.5 - 3.49 = B
1.5 - 2.49 = C
0.5 - 1.49 = D
0.0 - 0.49 = F
Absences: Students must make up work they miss while absent. It is the student’s responsibility to determine the missed assignments by checking the "What Are We Doing in Math" page of this website and/or checking in with their peers/teacher when they return to the classroom. To avoid missing out on key math skills and concepts taught, work must be turned in within a week after the student returns. Please try to schedule vacations during non-school days since it is hard for students to make up missed work/tests while completing current assignments.
