Robotics:
The goal of the design is to automate recyclables sorting at the consumer level, robotics will take a leading role in our design. Coding and designing the robotic parts will require the most effort during the course of our prototyping.
Environmental Engineering:
Many of the previous solutions we have researched required environmental engineering.
Photo Processing Technology:
Most commercial recycling sorters use a combination of laser and photo processing recognition. By scaling down this technology, we can fit it into a smaller space without compromising its efficiency.
Materials Engineering:
This product is expected to be used daily and needs to be built with materials that can withstand wear. The tray and motor that moves the object being sorted need to durable as well as the bins that the object falls into.
