Students grade 1-5 are welcome to place holds through Alexandria. I will tell your teacher if there are holds for you to pick up at lunch. If you don't pick up your holds promptly, someone else may get the book ahead of you.
HOW TO PLACE HOLDS
You can place up to 3 hold requests at one time. Remember you can only check out 1 graphic novel or book in a popular series at a time, so choose a variety (recommend at least 1 nonfiction book).
How to place a hold:
Go to the library catalog, Alexandria Researcher.
Log in using your 6-digit student ID and your school Google password (login button is at the top left of page).
Use the "Search Library" link (it has a magnifying glass icon).
Find a book using search, (make sure it is not an ebook) then click the arrow on right side for more details.
Now click the icon of the hand on a book (upper right side) and place your hold. You are "holding" a book, not "reserving" it.
You can also check your account status and remove holds if you change your mind.
If you place a hold on a book that is available, you will get it faster. You can place holds on books that are checked out, but you will have to wait longer to get it.
Ms. Erskine, the CMS librarian, made a slide show for her students that she is graciously sharing with us:
