Our Capstone Rationale
Our team is made up of elementary librarians, an elementary teacher, and a district technology coach. We wanted to create artifacts that would span all elementary levels. Our three artifacts follow a scope and sequence a teacher could follow to introduce Artificial Intelligence to students. Through this sequence of lessons, we want students to begin understanding that AI is anything that's not human that looks and listens to the world around it; it can make decisions, learn, and interact with the world.
This activity focuses on sorting and perception. It is aimed to the younger grades K-2 or as a fun introductory activity for older grades.
This activity focuses on the hidden layer in AI perception. It could be aimed towards the middle grades 2-4 or as a secondary step in the scope and sequence.
This is a student-directed extension activity for groups or individuals that allows students to explore and experience features of artificial intelligence.
