Interview with Ashlyn Adams

By Emma Jones and Brynlee Shumway

Q: Are you proud of your work this season?

A: Yes, I am very proud of this season. I went into the season with no expectations of how well I would do, and I ended up with an undefeated season. It feels amazing.

Q: Do you practice running a lot? How often do you practice?

A: I play 3 different sports ; soccer, basketball, and tennis. In all of those, I need to be fit and able to run for an extended period of time. I had never really practiced for cross country on my own, but I did a lot of running in practice.

Q: Do you think you will continue to do cross country in the future?

A: I will definitely run cross country next year, but I have a big decision in high school because cross country and tennis are both in the fall season. I have been playing tennis my whole life and love it. This year was only my first year running cross country. I love running for Hubble, Mr. Wojdyla and Mr. Schmidt. I also love making new friends to run with. Running is in my blood, my mom ran at Indiana University. So, when the time comes, I hope I make the right decision.

Q: How long have you been doing cross country?

A: This was my first year running cross country. I didn’t do it is 6th grade because I was focusing on soccer. At the end of last year, Mr. Wojdyla noticed me running the Huskie mile and competing against the boys. Mr. Wojdyla sent an email to my parents suggesting I might want to try running cross country.

Q: Were you always good or did it take a lot of practice?

A: It was a combination of both. I knew I was already in shape from the sports I play. I was confident with the great coaching from Mr. Wojdyla, Mr. Schmidt, and encouragement from my friends, I’d have the opportunity to have a great season.
