MRS. NASHBERRY’S CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
FOLLOW THE 3 R’S- YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL & SCHOOL WILL BE MORE ENJOYABLE FOR ALL
Be Respectful-This means that students will be respectful to themselves, their classmates, their teacher, their materials and the classroom. Students will follow the rules as stated in their handbooks. They will listen and follow the daily instructions given by Mrs. Nashberry or any other teacher in the classroom. When guests visit the class or we interact with them on field trips, students will be courteous. Students will return materials provided by the school/teacher for the students to use in the condition in which they were received. When students leave the classroom each day, they will check the space around them for trash to ensure that they leave the room looking as it did when they entered it. Students will treat substitutes as they do Mrs. Nashberry. Students will not touch Mrs. Nashberry’s personal items (like her laptop & seat, or desk) unless they have permission to do so.
Be Responsible-This means that students understand that they must attend school in order to succeed in life, and therefore must come to class everyday with a positive attitude and most importantly, a willingness to learn. Realize that while Mrs. Nashberry will provide the hand-outs missed on a date that go with a lesson, the discussions about those handouts are also vital, therefore it is important for students to be in class. Students will turn in assignments on time, and ALWAYS do their own work. Turning in work completed by AI and claiming it as your own creation will be deemed plagiarism and a zero and detention will be written. Students should not work on any assignments together, for it will be deemed copying and you will be given a zero and a detention, except for those assignments on which Mrs. Nashberry gives students permission to work together. Students will accept that education is a two-way street, and in order for them to learn, they must exert effort. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to ask for their printed make-up work, though in most cases, it is located on Google classroom with instructions, often even with a private comment as a reminder as to what we are working on that day. Once a due date has passed, a zero will be inputted into the gradebook, but if the absence is excused, the student can still receive full credit. Mrs. Nashberry will not ask for make-up work. Always put your name on your work before turning it in if it’s not being submitted through classroom.
Be Ready-This means that students will be prepared each day for class. This includes students being present, arriving on time and being in their seat when the bell rings, bringing the proper materials to class with them, having their assignments ready to turn in on time, and paying attention while in class. During a lesson, students will be instructed when it’s appropriate to open up their chrome-books for an activity, otherwise during the lesson, they should be closed. Late work is defined as not turning in the assignment when it is asked for, or if being submitted through classroom, then the due date posted on classroom. Students will lose 50% of the points they would have received for late work, & only have 24 hours to turn it in for a late grade to replace the zero, but Mrs. Nashberry will not ask for it, if it’s late. It is up to the student to remember to turn it in.
Grading: Many activities done in the classroom will be worth points but will not be worth as many as homework, projects, or test assignments. Examples might include discussions, thought museums, debates, watching movies/video clips with questions, etc. You can lose points for these by not participating, doing it incorrectly, not taking it seriously, or sleeping. US History, Dual Credit History, Psychology will use weighted categories- Classroom Activities Participation- 20%, Homework 35%, Tests/Projects 45%
Absences: When a student is absent, a zero is input into the grade book online, until that work is turned in and graded. Students are given the same number of days that they were absent to make up their work. Ex: If a student is absent Monday, returns to school Tuesday, then the assignment is due Wednesday. A student may request an extension, but it should be done prior to the due date time, and it is up to Mrs. Nashberry whether to extend it. Unexcused absences mean that the student receives a zero for all work due that day unless it was turned in early. Classroom participation activities can be made up, but it could be that it is an alternate assignment depending on the activity missed. Note- if a student was on a field trip, they are expected to make up their work and the absence is excused. Cell phone policy from the student handbook will be followed and enforced. Leave smart watches in your locker for my classes.
Failure to follow any of the 3 R’s will result in consequences, and depending on the severity of the action, consequences may be any of the following- loss of participation classroom activity points, detentions, referrals to the principal, or other possible consequences.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand the rules described on the previous page for Mrs. Nash-Mayberry’s room, and will do my best to follow them, & understand the consequences for not following them.
