There's a phenomenal opportunity during the summer for students out there for every interest, skill level, and budget. Below are just a sampling of opportunities out there. Engaging in activities outside the classroom can add a layer to students’ identities, help impact their community, and play an important role in their journey. Challenge to Excellence is one of the most respected and long-standing summer residential programs for academically-talented students in the Midwest. The program’s major goal is to provide students with opportunities to “stretch themselves” in learning experiences that promote higher level thinking skills and creativity in a variety of academic subjects, such as math, art, psychology, drama, biology and many others.

The Commonwealth Honors Academy is a three-week academic enrichment experience held every June on Murray State University’s main campus in Murray, KY. You’ll live on campus while you take college-level honors classes and participate in fun activities and seminars to help you grow personally and socially.
Aside from academics, CHA gives you the opportunity to make friends with intelligent, enthusiastic, and energetic students from different areas and with different backgrounds.
The EIU English Studies Summer Camp is a unique program that allows students to customize their program of study, selecting two sessions from a range of offerings in creative writing, literature, professional/academic writing, media studies, and more. Students grow academically and socially as they prepare for college and are mentored by expert faculty who share their passion for reading and writing.
