An Interview with Brady Baylis

Author of "Judas!" Bob Dylan’s Misunderstood Musical Evolution." Brady Baylis is a graduating senior studying History with minors in Anthropology and Education with Honors in Humanities. His academic interests include the Napoleonic Wars, 1960s rock counterculture, and the relationship between Catholicism and Anglo-American governments. Outside of the classroom, he is involved in Residence Life and enjoys playing chess, watching hockey, reading, and cooking.

An Interview with Isabella Mininni

Author of "Parmenides and Heraclitus’ Influence on Aristotle’s Definitions of Nature." Isabella Mininni will be graduating in the class of 2023 with a Bachelors of Arts in English and a minor in Politics. Outside of class, Mininni is on the student editorial board for Vermilion as well as the vice-president of the CUA Mock Trial Team. After her undergraduate years, she plans to attend law school.

An Interview with Daniel Marcinak

Author of “Through Him, With Him, In Him: The Restoration of Man's Original Identity Through Christ” and one of the winners of the 2023 Phi Beta Kappa FYE award. Daniel Marcinak is a freshman honors student of the class of 2026. His chief academic interests include Catholic apologetics, moral realism, classical and medieval philosophy, biblical exegesis, and ancient history. Beyond the classroom, he enjoys reading classical literature, writing, rhetoric, philology, and learning ancient languages, including Greek and Hebrew. Daniel is deeply committed to the harmony of faith and reason and intends to pursue studies in both Philosophy and Theology, with the hope of teaching in either of those two fields. 

An Interview with Abigail de Reyna

Author of "Animals as Healers: Exploring the Use of Therapy Animals in Health Setting." Abigail de Reyna graduated from The Catholic University of America in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She now works on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as a registered nurse at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. While at Catholic, she was involved in the University's Symphony Orchestra, had a board position on the Student Nurses Association, and was a service leader in the Cardinal Service Corps. Abigail holds the distinction of being the first University Scholar from the School of Nursing at CUA.

An Interview with Edmund O'Brien

Author of "From A Native Daughter's Notes: A Delusional California." Eddie O'Brien graduated from Catholic U in 2021 with a B.A. in English. Eddie is now working in the University's Office of Advancement while pursuing his M.A. in English.

An Interview with Brinna Mulligan

Author of "Not-So-Social Media: The Distortion of Friendship through Social Media” and one of the winners of the 2023 Phi Beta Kappa FYE award. Brinna Mulligan is an honors student of the class of 2026. She is a Conway Scholar of the School of Nursing with a focus on Spanish for Healthcare. Outside the classroom, she is passionate about missionary work in Honduras and enjoys staying active, rereading Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, playing piano, and creating pen-and-ink artwork. Brinna hopes to pursue pediatrics as a nurse.

An Interview with Christopher Carey

Author of "The Effect of Brexit Negotiations Regarding Northern Ireland on a US–UK Trade Deal." Chris Carey is a current graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Integral Economic Development Management. As an undergraduate at Catholic University, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, accompanied by a minor in Hispanic Studies and a certificate in Irish Studies. Following his passions for Irish music, culture, politics, and more, he co-founded and leads the organization the Young Friends of Ireland which aims to contribute to the revitalization and celebration of Irish-American culture in young people nationwide. Following the completion of his master's this year, Chris will attend Harvard Law School. 

An Interview with Anna Harvey

Author of "The Complicated Role of Black Journalism in the 1863 Civil War Draft Riots." Anna Harvey is a December 2022 graduate with a double major in English and history and honors studies in theology. Her eclectic academic interests include, but are not limited to: Romantic British literature, early American history, and the life and writings of James Madison. After graduation, she moved back to Northern Virginia, where she is currently a staff writer and photographer for the Arlington Catholic Herald in the Diocese of Arlington. In her spare time, she enjoys thrifting, playing piano, visiting National Parks, and writing children’s stories. 

An Interview with Annaliese Haman

Author of "The Butterfly and the Bath: Japonisme in the Art of James McNeill Whistler and Mary Cassatt." Annaliese Haman is a graduating senior with an Art History major, Philosophy minor, and a focus on Impressionism and Asian art. She wrote her junior thesis on the influence of Japanese prints on James McNeill Whistler and Mary Cassatt. She is currently working on her senior thesis, which will focus on Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel’s series of paintings at the National Gallery of Art portraying Joan of Arc’s life. Outside of academia, she enjoys playing board games and Dungeons and Dragons with her friends. Her solo endeavors focus on practicing calligraphy and developing fonts.
