Empowering Students for Safer Roads
At B.E.S.T, we believe in the power of education to create a safer future. Our innovative program introduces high school students in the District to transportation engineering safety design concepts through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. By teaching students the principles of safe transportation systems, we aim to reduce pedestrian and bicycle injuries and create safety-informed citizens.
From calculating stopping sight distance with toy cars to experiencing sidewalk navigation in a wheelchair, students participants will gain practical insights into transportation safety. B.E.S.T. lesson plans simplify university-level STEM topics for high school students, providing engaging and challenging learning experiences!
A two-day workshop will immerse students in safer transportation design. Through guided activities and expert-led discussions, students explore key concepts such as cones of vision, accessibility design, and the geometric design of multimodal facilities.
