Interested in how traffic moves? Want to make DC a safer place?
The B.E.S.T. Summer Camp will NOT occur in 2025; Look out for 2026! The free two-day camp is all about transportation engineering and safe roadway design by completing lab activities on curbside management, intersection sight distance, and wheelchair accessibility, learn from professionals and touring around DC's rad infrastructure, and implementing your own temporary safe roadway design! Lunch and swag will be provided both days. Typically all DC-area high school students that are rising-freshmen, -sophomores, -juniors, -seniors, and recent graduates may enroll in the camp. Students may be enrolled in public, private, and home schools in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Students who are interested in engineering, civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, or civil engagement should participated. If you have watched Road Guy Rob, Not Just Bikes, City Beautiful, or other urbanist Youtube / TikToks, you will not to miss this! To sign up, either be nominated by your teacher, parents, mentor, or nominate yourself! Nominees will be invited to attend to a Building Engineers for Safer Traffic (B.E.S.T) Summit at no cost. Students will meet at the Catholic University of America's Engineering Lab. Don't worry - we will not be stuck in a classroom! We will use campus as our laboratory and include field trips to check out safe infrastructure.
