The Department of Hindi had organized an One Day Inter National Webinar on ‘ New Education Policy and Indian Languages on 15-08-20 at 5.30 p.m in the evening. The Program was commenced with the invocation. Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. A. Thasleem Banu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi . Mr. Tejendra Sharma , Editor – the Purvai , from U.K. was the Chief speaker of the first session. He spoke about the guidelines of ‘New Education Policy 2020.’ He also spoke about the significance & motto of the NEP. There was an great interactive session among the audiences. Mr. Vivekmani Tripathi , Assistant Professor , Faculty of Afro Asian Languages & Culture of Guangdong Universities of Foreign Studies , from China , was the special speaker for the second session. He thrown the light on the importance of hindi , Chinese & other Languages all over the World. He also shared his views on the ‘ New Education Policy & its Prominence for the future generations. The second session was ended with the great interactive session. Dr. Sudha Trivedi , Head , Department of Hindi , M.O.P Vaishnav College For Women , Chennai , from India was the Chief Speaker for the third & last session. She thrown the light on the importance of Hindi Language in Tamilnadu & also the advantages of New Education Policy & its future values for the upcoming generations. The Third session was ended with the great interactive session. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. . Thasleem Banu , Assistant Professor Department of Hindi. By this the Program came to an end.
On Occasion of ‘Munshi Premchand Diwas’ , the Department of Hindi had organized an One Day Workshop on ‘ Different Perspectives of stories & Novels of great writer Munshi Premchand’ at 3.00 p.m. Dr. Shrabani Bhattacharya , Head , Department of Hindi of Stella Maris College was the Chief Guest for the day. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. . Thasleem Banu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi. The Chief Speaker Dr. Shrabani Bhattacharya had thrown the light on ‘ History of Munshi Premchand & his different Perspectives of writings. She also spoke about the great Novel ‘ Godhan’ & its significance related to the current scenarios. She also threw light on the renowned Novel ‘ Nirmala’ & the chief character Nirmala’s struggle towards her life. She also said that Premchand usually relates his writings with the current issues. He never uses imaginations in his writings. She also spoke about the short stories written by ‘Munshi Premchand namely ‘ kafan’ , ‘do bailon ki katha’ ,’ poos ki raat’ ‘ boodhi kaki’ , ‘ eidgah ‘., ‘ thakur ka kuaan ’ etc. & she also highlighted the importance pillars for the formation of the stories. . PowerPoint Presentation was showcased among the audiences. There was an Interactive session by the audiences. The Program was ended by a Vote of Thanks . & It was delivered by Dr. A. Thasleem Banu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi.
On the occasion of Hindi Diwas , Department of Hindi of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College For Women had conducted one Day Inter Collegiate Competitions on Speech & Poetry Recitation competition on 14-09-20 at 3 p.m. The topic for the speech is ‘ Significance of Technology during Pandemic’ or ‘ Women Empowerment’. On this occasion Dr. Anita Patil , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi , from Guru Nanak College was the judge for this event during the first session. Total No. Of registrations for this event was 34. But no. of Participants for this event was 12. In the second session , Dr. Zaina Bee , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi from DRBCCC Hindu College was the Judge for the Poetry Recitation Competition .
On the Occasion of Hindi Diwas , Department of Hindi also organized a One Day Guest Lecture on ‘ The Prominence of Hindi & Language in our Lives’ (‘ jeevan mein bhasha ka mahatva aur hindi’) on 15-09-20 at 4.00 p.m onwards. The Chief Guest Dr. Raja Shekhar , Head & Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi , Loyola College was grace the occasion. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. a. Thasleem Banu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi . The Programme was started by invocation. The Chief Guest Dr. Raja Shekhar had spoken on ‘ The Prominence of Hindi & Language in our Lives. He also thrown the light on the significance of mother tongue language . He said ‘ language is the important source to showcase our feelings. He also said that ‘ everybody must have freedom to learn any type of languages & no. of languages in order to develop their Knowledge & Communication.
To commemorate the 150 th Birth Anniversary of ‘ Father of our Nation ‘ Mahatma Gandhi , the Department of Languages in Collaboration with IQAC had organized an oratorical competition on ‘ Gandhian Ideologies – The Need of the hour’ on 02-10-2020 by 9. 00 a.m onwards. The Program was commenced by invocation. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Kasturi , Assistant Professor – Department of Tamil. The Total number of participants is 24. Mrs. KanchanaSadagopan MA, MCA, B.Ed. Head, Value Education Department , Sevalaya was the Chief Guest cum judge for the day. She threw the light over Gandhiji & his Principles. & also spoke about his contribution towards society. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. A. ThasleemBanu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi. The Program was ended by the National Anthem.
In the memory of 89 th Birth Anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam , the Department of Languages in association with IQAC of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College For Women had conducted Elocution & Essay writing competition on 13-10-2020. The Topic for Essay Writing Competition is ‘ Target 2020- Achieved & yet to Achieve.’ & the Topic for Elocution Competition is ‘ Abdul Kalam from my Perspective’. The Competition was started with the invocation . Welcome & special address was delivered by Dr. K. Preetha , Head & Department of Languages. She highlighted the valuable thoughts of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam & the struggle towards his Personal life.
To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of SardarVallabhBhaiPatel , the Department of Psychology & Languages in collaboration with IQAC had organized ‘ rashriyaektadiwas’ – ‘ National Unity Day’. On this occasion various events were organized. Comparing was done by Nishi Priya, II B.Sc. (Psy). Tamil speech was delivered by Yuvarani, II B.Sc. (Psy), Tamil Poem was recited by Jenife R Pingy, II B.Sc. (Psy) . English Speech was delivered by Syed Shazia, I BSC (Psy) & Hindi Speech was delivered by Nishi Priya, II BSC (Psy ) Secretary of Hindi Department. The insight was shared by Dr. K. Preetha , Head , Department of Languages. After her short speech, an oath taking ceremony was held. Vote of thanks was delivered by Nishi Priya.

(‘ वर्तमान में हिंदीभाषा का महत्त्व ‘ एवं ‘अनुवाद : संभावनाएं एवं चुनोतियाँ ) on 10-01-2021 at 10.00 a.m.The Programme had started with the invocation by Miss Nishi Priya, II B.Sc. Psychology Secretary of Hindi Department. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. A. ThasleemBanu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi. Dr. Vasudevan Shesh, Faculty of Hindi, Ramkrishnan Mission Vivekananda , evening College was the Chief Guest for the day. He spoke about the importance of Hindi all over the world & also thrown the light on the ‘Possibilities & the Challenges of the translation. He said that ‘ for a good translator one most have complete knowledge & vocabulary on both target & source languages.
To Commemorate the 158 th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Department of Hindi had celebrated ‘National Youth Day ‘ by conducting an Intercollegiate competition as E – Quiz on 12-01-2021. The topic for the event was Swami Vivekananda Life & Achievements. There were total 38 responses from various colleges. E- Certificate was given for those who attained 50% marks & above.
To Commemorate the Birth Anniversary of renowned Tamil Poet ‘Thiruvalluvar’ , Department of Hindi had celebrated THIRUVALLUVAR’S DAY by conducting two events such as Powerpoint Presentation on Thiruvalluvar & Kural Recitation on 18-01-2021.

To Commemorate the 73rd Birth Anniversary of Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu , Dr. J. Jayalalitha , the Department of Languages of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College For Women had conducted Elocution Competition titled ‘ Dr. Jayalalitha’s Multifaceted Personality’ on 25-.2-2021 at 5.00 p.m through virtual mode. There were totally 10 participants.
Department of Hindi had conducted One Day National Symposium on ‘ Representation of Transgender in Hindi Literature ‘’ on February 28 , 2021. The Program had started with the invocation by Nishi Priya – BSC(PSY) – II Year . Welcome address was delivered by Dr. A. ThasleemBanu , Assistant Professor , Department of Hindi. The Program was consisting with three sessions. On this occasion Prof. UmapatiDikshit , HOD , Department of Orientation & Language Extension , Cultural Institute of Hindi , Ministry of Education from Agra was the Chief speaker for the first sessions .He spoke about the different Novels bases on Transgender & also throw the light on the problems faced by the Transgenders. After the completion of the first session. , there was the Interactive session. For the second session . Dr. P. Nazeem Begum , Associate Professor , Post Graduate Research Center , DakshinBharath Hindi PracharSabha was the Special Speaker – 2 , she highlighted the the tragedy life of Transgender during their death ceremonies. For the Third session , Dr. SudhaTrivedi , Co-ordinator , School of Languages , Head , Department of Hindi from MOP Vaishnav College was the special speaker – 3 . On this eve she presented few poems on transgender & their life.

Department of Hindi had conducted Elocution Competition titled ‘ नारी सशक्तिकरण ‘ ,’ Women Empowerment’ through google meet for UG I & II Year Hindi students.
