Objectives:
To create awareness among women farmers about plastic usage
to help students understand the daily life of the women involved in agriculture
to identify the challenges faced by women farmers in rural areas
to develop a sense of social responsibility to contribute to the well-being of the community.
Report:
Siruvapuri is a village located in Thiruvallur district, 40 km from Chennai. The village is known for the 500-year-old Balasubrahmanyar Temple and the fertile agricultural lands surrounding it. Most women in this village are involved in agriculture directly or indirectly. In collaboration with the ECO Club of the college, a visit to Siruvapuri village was organized on 13.02.23 (Monday) from 10 AM to 02 PM. 33 students from different departments visited the village. More than 30 women farmers gathered in the village office. The Village President and Vice-President introduced the college students to the women farmers. ECO Club coordinators performed a skit to create awareness of the negative effects of plastic and how to avoid using it in everyday life. The students interacted with the women farmers on a one-on-one basis and gained insights about the challenges faced by them in agriculture. This was a great experience for the students as they got an opportunity to understand the unique perspectives and experiences of the women farmers and the need to involve themselves in community development projects. Ms. Dhiloshini, II B A. English, was the student coordinator, and Dr. J. Jaya Parveen, Asst. Professor (English), was the staff coordinator for the village visit.
Outcomes:
The women farmers understood the negative impact of plastic usage on the environment and the need for practical ways to discard single-use plastics.
The students understood the perspectives and experiences of the women farmers by involving in a one-on-one interaction with them.
They realized the importance of involving themselves in community development projects for the upliftment of women in agriculture.

Objective:
The objective of celebrating Bhogi in an eco-friendly manner is to ensure that the festival does not harm the environment and instead promotes sustainable practices.
Report:
On January 13, 2023, as part of the Pongal celebration at College, the Eco club showcased a mime that focused on how people celebrated Bhogi in the past and present. The performance was filmed by Thanthi TV, and it helped raise awareness among viewers about the importance of celebrating Bhogi in an eco-friendly way. This encouraged them to make a resolution to celebrate the festival in an environmentally conscious manner.
Outcome:
Celebrating Bhogi in an eco-friendly manner can have a positive impact on the environment and the community, promoting sustainability and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.

Nature of the Event: Word Search - Puzzle Competition on Climate Change

Objective:
The competition aimed to educate people about the importance of protecting the environment and mitigating the impacts of climate change through creative and interactive means.
Outcome:
At the end of the event, students will gain the skills to think critically and creatively about environmental issues and take action to make a positive impact on the planet.
Report:
On account of National Conservation Day, the Eco Club and Science Club jointly organized a Word Search - Puzzle Competition on the theme of Climate Change on December 21, 2022. This individual event made the students participate keenly.

Report:
On account of the Diwali celebration, the Eco club organized an E-poster competition on the theme Pollution Free Diwali on 23/10/2022. Green crackers are environment-friendly, which unlike regular crackers do not cause the emission of harmful pollutant fumes in the atmosphere. So, this was conducted to insist that the students use green crackers which would be a great step of caution towards the people around and for the environment. Dr. E. Padmavathy, Assistant Professor in Mathematics judged the competition and selected the best three E-posters.

Empowering individuals and communities threatened by hazards to act in a difficult time and in an appropriate manner to reduce the possibility of personal injury, loss of life, and damage to property and the environment.
Report:
On account of International Day for Disaster Reduction, the Eco Club organized a Panel discussion on Early Warning Systems on October 14, 2022. A brief introduction about the topic was given by Mrs.P. Kalpana, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, ECO Club Coordinator. The following students of II year are the Eco club coordinators of various departments who spoke on the precautionary measures that must be followed by an individual before the disaster happens.

Apart from these five speakers, the audience also took part in the discussion. Through this discussion, everyone came to know the steps that must be followed during the disaster by everyone. Therefore, the day was spent effectively, and everyone learned how to safeguard themselves and their immediate neighbors during the disaster.

Objectives:
Exhibit the eco-alternative products for sups and sales of the products and exhibit of machinery used for the manufacture of Eco alternative and Eco-friendly products.
Report:
Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board in coordination with the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Changes, Government of India, organized a "National Expo on Eco alternatives to banned SUP (Single Use Plastic) and Conference of Start-ups 2022" on 26, Sep 2022 at Chennai Trade Centre. The Expo was inaugurated by Thiru. Bhupender Yadav, the Hon'ble Union of Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, in the presence of Dr. L. Murugan, the Hon'ble Union of Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, and Thiru. Siva. V. Meyyanathan, Hon'ble Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Government of Tamil Nādu. Nearly 41 students from our college participated in the Expo and benefited.

Objective:
The day aims to create awareness about the importance and need of the Ozone layer which is the single protection on Earth against UV rays coming out from the sun.
Report:
On account of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Eco Club organized a PPT presentation on September 24, 2022. Initially, the program began with the welcome address given by Ms.Deepika, Eco Club Coordinator of II BBA.
The following Eco club coordinator of various departments presented PPTs on different subtopics of the main concept.

Before the start of all the presentations, the audience was asked to give their full attention since there was a quiz session at the end. In the end, a quiz was conducted by Rithika, an Eco Club member of II B.Sc. Chemistry. Participants took notes, listened carefully during the presentation, and actively participated in the quiz. Two rounds were conducted. Durga Devi from II B.Sc. Computer Science secured the first position. Mrs.Anuradha, Dean of Students gave the winner a sapling as a token of appreciation. The program was concluded by a vote of thanks given by Jeevitha. E and the whole program was hosted by V. Karunya Nivetha, Council Member of III B.Sc. Mathematics.
Outcome:
At the end of the event, students acquired knowledge of the ozone layer and its importance.

Report:
As a part of the Independence Day celebration Eco club members contributed plant saplings to the College in order to promote a green environment. The saplings were planted on the College campus. The event was graced by the principal Dr. S. Sridevi, vice principal Dr. R. Menakshi, and Mrs. N . Anuradha, Head Department of Chemistry, Dean of Students & Eco Club Coordinator. Eco club members expressed their love and patriotism towards the country with a dance performance.
