DISCUSSION ON SUPERWOMEN SYNDROME

The Department of Psychology, Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur in collaboration with IQAC organised a Departmental Discussion on Superwomen Syndrome. Mrs. P. P. Shantha Kumari, Asst. Professor in the Department of Psychology, CTTE College for Women was arranged as a moderator for the session. This discussion was held on 11th June 2021, Friday from 11.00 AM to 12.00 PM at G- Meet. Nearly 60 students participated in the discussion. A Lot of information about Superwomen Syndrome was shared from various perspectives. And the students also took part enthusiastically and put forth their own views and live examples on Superwomen Syndrome.

GUEST LECTURE

The Department of Psychology, Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur in collaboration with IQAC organised a Guest Lecture on the Development of Brain. The Guest Lecture Dr. Priya Magesh, M.Sc. M. Phil, M.S. Asst. Prof. & Head, Department of Psychology, Madras School of Social Work, was arranged to conduct the session held on 20th April, 2021.

INTRADEPARTMENTAL COMPETITION

The Department of Psychology Association Shristiin collaboration with IQAC conducted an Intra – Departmental Competition on 26.3.2021. This competition Is conducted on behalf of World Bipolar Day.

Name of the competition: Poster making

Objective of the competition:

  • To create an awareness for students and others about Bipolar disorder.

  • To understand the normal and abnormal signs & symptoms in mood, energy and behaviour.

  • To know its nature, causes, prevalence and prevention.

WEBINAR ON FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS-PRE AND POST PANDEMIC


Department of Psychology and Department of Business Administration in collaboration with IQAC organized a webinar on Financial Implications- Pre and Post Pandemic on February 10,2021. The resource person Mr. Francis Felix Joseph honored the session.

WEBINAR ON POSITIVE EMOTIONS AND OPTIMISIM & RESILIENCE

A two days Webinar on Positive Emotions and Optimism & Resilience was organized by the Department of Psychology, Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur. Dr. A. Nirmala, former Principal and Secretary Ethiraj College for Women was arranged as a resource person for the session. This webinar was held online via G- Meet on 19th January 2021 and 20th January 2021 from 11.30 – 12.30 PM. It was hosted by students. Around 50 students took part in the webinar and got benefited. It was a two days webinar were the resource person clearly explained positive emotions and their benefits, optimistic thoughts and resilience skills.

INTERCOLLEGIATE COMPETITIONS

Department of Psychology Association Shristi in collaboration with IQAC conducted an Inter – Collegiate Competitions on 27.10.2020 through online mode. Students from 8 colleges have participated in this competition through online mode. Nearly 24 participants participated actively in this competition.

  • To make the students pop up with their creative ideas during this lockdown period and to explore their talents.

  • To improvise their quality of life by inculcating a strong sense of Gratitude.

NEWSLETTER

Department of Psychology had released the newsletter, In-mind (Inquisitive Mind) on June & October 2020. This newsletter is been released for the academic year 2020-2021. The theme for this academic year is “Covid & Mental Health”. The article for this was announced as an open forum in which students from various colleges, working people and outsiders have participated. They also showed their high level of interest by sending their articles. All their articles have been verified and shortlisted by checking the plagiarism. All these works related to this newsletter has been done by the students from the Department of Psychology.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

Students of the Department of Psychology celebrated Teachers Day and showed their gratitude towards them on September 05, 2020 through virtual platform.

The Program began at 10:00 a.m. on 5th of September with a student populace of 90. The timescale of the event was one hour and the event was organized by the third year psychology students. The second and first year students participated in the virtual meet likewise.

Inaugurated the program with a short video commemorating the founder’s death anniversary and advanced to the ceremony with a song and then a cordial address speech. Further expended the program with videos admiring and appreciating the faculties by the department’s previous achievements and their role in it. Videos of students showing gratitude for the efforts made by the teachers were then displayed.

Following this, two students from the third and second years composed a highly expressive literary piece as a free verse for the teachers. Concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks.

INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY

The Department of Psychology, Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women, Perambur, organised an international webinar on Health Psychology on the topic Positivity: A Practice of Accepting the World as it is.

Mrs. Afra Maryam Shakir, Inspirational Speaker, A fierce & Blogger, Bahrain served as the Guest of Honour. This webinar was held on 8th January 2020 from 12.00 to 1.00 PM at G- Meet. Around 50 students participated in the webinar. She shared her knowledge about Breast Cancer, its cause, preventive measures and acceptance. At the end of the meet, a question and answer session was also conducted in which students put forth their doubts.
