The Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organised AITHON 2020 on 29th February 2020, as a tribute to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, our honourable former President of India, and to work toward achieving his vision 2020 dream. A one day workshop on Machine Learning using Python was conducted by Foursteps Training Solutions, in which 300+ students participated and acquired the skills required to step into the field of AI.
On February 26, 2020, the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications organized an International Seminar on “Emerging IOT Trends”. Mr.Jay Karthik, Pre-Sales Systems Engineer, Cisco Systems, Greater Boston, USA, was the Resource Person. The students were brainstormed on the applications of IOT and innovative ideas that can be designed and implemented.
The Department organised an intercollegiate workshop on “Socket Programming using Python'' on 19th February 2020. Mr.Kalidas.S, Founder and Director, IFANDFOR Endeavours, gave hands-on training on using Python programming language for controlling the Operating System and other peripherals. The students were also shown a line demo on hacking a mobile camera by acquiring the mobile’s IP address through python terminal.

On February 7 & 8, 2020, the Department organized a Two Day Faculty Development Programme on “Inspirational Teaching: Tips, Tricks & Techniques”. Dr.S.R.Sudarshan Iyengar, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, IIT Ropar was the resource person. The faculty had a lively and interactive session, where a lot of tips on teaching techniques were discussed. The current state of research in Arts & Science college was also dicussed. The resource person highlighted the need for basic research and its role in enhancing a teacher’s ability to inspire young minds
The Department hosted an inter-school competition as a part of “International Data Privacy Day” celebrations on 30th January 2020. Students from the schools in and around Perambur participated in the competitions. Mr.Nirmal Jose, Manager, Incident Response Team, HCL gave the Keynote address on “ Cyber Security and Safety on Social Media”.
On January 28, 2020 an interactive session on “Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking” was conducted as a part of “International Data Privacy Day”. Mr. Naveen Kumar, Cyber Security Researcher & Professional, Hacurity was the resource person. The students were given deep insight into the modalities of hacking and the do’s and don'ts while using the internet and social media.
On January 28, 2020 a career guidance programme on “Opportunities in the field of Data Science” was conducted by the Department. Mr. K.L.Venkatesan, Image Creative Education was the resource person. The speaker elaborated on the various career opportunities available for Computer Science graduates in the field of Medical Data processing, Pharmaceuticals and other sectors. The students clarified their doubts and questions from the speaker.

On December 16, 17 & 19, 2019, the Departments of Sciences organized a Hands-on Training on “Smart Phone Servicing” in association with New Technology, Coimbatore. The participants were given hands-on training in assembling and troubleshooting smartphones. The various components and sensors used to build a smartphone and their functionalities were explained in detail. The students brought mobile phones which were not in working condition and learnt to service them on their own, under the guidance of the resource persons.

The Department of Computer Science, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for women organized one day workshop on “PHP & MYSQL” on 25/11/2019 for the students from Department of Computer Science, Computer Application,Physics, and Mathematics. The participants were given hands on training to gain indepth knowledge in Web Application skills. Mr.J.Jerald Inico ,Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Loyola College was the Resource Person for the event.

The Departments of Computer Science, Computer Applications and Consumer club organized an International Seminar on “E-Safety” on September 27, 2019. The Resource Person of the day was Dr. Chandrika Subramaniyan, Solicitor and Barrister Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia, Sydney, Australia. She gave an excellent coverage on E-Safety, Internet Safety, the knowledge of maximizing the user's personal safety, security risks on private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime. Nearly 200 students of CTTE College along with other college staff and students attended the Seminar.
The students from the Department of Computer Science conducted a workshop on “Animation Using Blender” for the higher secondary students of ST. Mary’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Perambur on 18th July 2019. The participants were given hands-on training in creating animations using the open source software Blender.
