Author Probe was conducted as a e-quiz to all UG and PG students across all disciplines. It aims to inspire the students to walk that extra mile to probe into the life and works of the writers who are not limited to their prescribed syllabus. The topic for the academic year 2020-21 was Nobel Prize Winners of Literature (English and Translated writers). The authors for the quiz were Pearl. S .Buck, Nadine Gordimer, Toni Morrison, Wislawa Szymborska, Doris Lessing, Alice Munro.
Certificate Course on Spoken English Edge On for I UG Students was conducted by Mrs Jaya Parveen & Faculty Course Instructors to reinforce Spoken English Skills through affable technology.
The 5th annual Students’ Conference was held via Google Meet as a National e-Conference on 20 March 2021. The theme of the conference was “Pandemic & Human Resilience”.
The Keynote address was delivered by Dr.Poonam Nigam Sahay, Associate Professor, University of Ranchi, Jharkand. 20 students presented their research papers in 3 parallel sessions. The presenters had researched and written papers onpandemics and the resilience of the human spirit over adversities.

On account of Women’s day, The Annual Inter-collegiate Quiz Engquiziteve 2021 for Smt. Yamuna Menon Trophy, instituted by our former Principal LateDr.HemaBalram in memory of her mother, was conducted through virtual platform due to pandemic on March 08, 2021for the City Colleges.. As a part of Department Association activities Festevillta, Ellita 2020-21 was conducted for Foundation English students along with the UG and PG students of our Department. The students actively participated in Performance Poetry, Literary Quiz and E- Poster Designing.
The Post-Graduate and Research Department of English conducted an International Poetry Conference in Collaboration with Connecting Across Borders (CAB) on 8 March, 2021.
Around 10 Poets from countries all over the world presented their poems centered around women and their lives. Ms. Beena Thomas, the Head of the Department, in her Presidential address hoped that the Poetry conference will be an annual event that will be held as part of the International Women’s Day every year.

FDP on Professional English: Teaching Strategies was organized for Professional English faculty by Mrs. Beena Thomas, Head of the Department & Mrs. M.Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Chevalier T.Thomas Elizabeth College for Women on 17.12.2020 & 18.12.2020 to teach the newly introduced syllabus effectively and to enhance quality in the teaching-learning experience
A Two Day Workshop on Critical Thinking Skills was conducted for the UG & PG students of English Department on 10.11.2020 & 11.11.2020 by Ms. Christina Dhanasekaran, Assistant Professor of English, Madras Christian College for Women to enhance the critical thinking skills of the students by increasing their ability to observe, analyze, interpret the works of literature and to equip them with twenty-first century skill.

National level e- Quiz on Epidemics and Literature in collaboration with the IQAC was conducted by Mrs. J. Jayaparveen, Assitant Professor, Department of English, C.T.T.E College for Women in the month of June to create awareness about pandemics & epidemics through its portrayal in literature through ages.
A National Level e-Quiz on Virtual Learning during COVID-19 Crisis was conducted by Mrs J Jayaparveen, Assitant Professor, Department of English in the month of July to make an inquiry about the paradigm shift in the mode of pedagogy during the pandemic and its impact on the teaching-learning experience.
The Students of The Post Graduate & Research Department of English volunteered to take Online tuition over phone for the students of Olcott Memorial School, BesantNagar, who belong to standards 6, 7 & 8. With the assistance of The Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra (RCCM),each student was allotted 15 hours of class.
The CTTE Speakers Forum: This and That is a collaborative venture of the Student Council and the Department of English. It is a friendly platform for the young minds to shed their inhibitions and exchange views, thereby scaling up their creative and critical thinking skills.
More specifically, the forum helps the students to keep abreast of the current affairs of the world, enhance speaking skills, build perspectives, develop interpersonal relationships and promote healthy discussions on various topics.
