Chromebooks should be used in a common area (kitchen, family room, etc.) when at home. Avoid having your child bring the Chromebook to areas of distractions or areas that are "out-of-sight."
Charge Chromebooks every night.
Actively monitor what is on the Chromebook screens.
Establish expectations for learning and consistently enforce them.
Have frequent conversations about what is on their Chromebook and have your child show you how they use particular apps and websites.
If your child's Chromebook is still in the school and you wish to pick it up, please call the school to make an appointment for a safe retrieval process.
Below are some articles from Common Sense Media that may help parents navigate screen use issues with their children.
Create a workspace away from distractions that includes a device and internet access.
Check-in with your child to ask questions, offer help, or problem solve. Teachers are available through email if he or she gets stuck or has questions.
Distance Learning is a new process for all of us. We appreciate everyone's understanding and flexibility during this time.
