Energy Owls & Sunbeam Award

As part of our School Wide Jobs, we have Energy Owls at CTMS. This is a member of the Schoolgen Lead Team and is how we can monitor if students are turning off lights and devices when they're not being used. We do this because we want to save as much energy as we can so we can get lower energy bills and be more energy efficient!

What is the role of the Energy Owl?

(Here are some of our thoughts!)

  • The Energy Owl is someone who notices the people who have turned off the lights when they've been left on (Isla)
  • When lights shouldn't be on, the Energy Owl goes around the school and turns them off (Sophie)
  • To find people who are being energy efficient around the school (MacKenzie)
  • Reports back to a Schoolgen Lead Team person about who they are noticing being energy efficient in their homegroup (Thea)

So how do you win the Sunbeam Award?

  • The Energy Owl records a solar point on a tally sheet for everyone they see being energy efficient - the person with the most solar points by the time the Schoolgen Lead Team meets on a Tuesday afternoon gets the Sunbeam Award for the week!
