Maintain GPA of 3.0 or higher while in the program
Regular in-person attendance at all required programmatic meetings, workshops and courses; some workshops may occur over University breaks such as Spring Break
In-person participation in 8-10 week summer research experience at UCSC
Enrollment in Spring 1-Unit Survey in Genomics course each year in the program and 1-Unit UROC courses RSCH 200 in Spring of year 1 and RSCH 400 in Fall of Year 2.
Participation in program assessment and peer mentoring activities
Current CSUMB undergraduate students who are interested in careers in genomics
Must have at least 3 semesters left at CSUMB at time of application

Series of courses to train students in skills and topic areas specific to genomics and bioinformatics
One-on-one faculty academic, career and research mentoring to students
Mentoring for writing and communication of presentations on research at conferences and competitions, scholarships, grants, and pre-doctoral experiences
An intensive summer [on-site] and continuing academic year [possibly off-site] research experience in genomics with the University of California, Santa Cruz Genomics Institute
Support for travel to disseminate research after the summer program
~$16,500 in paid time to spend on research and professional development activities both during the summer and school year
~$1900 in tuition scholarships over 2 years
Support for travel and registration to a scientific conference (up to $4,000)
Free room and board at UCSC during summer research experience
Support for professional development and skills workshops (up to $1,000)
