Photoquadrat surveys were conducted in two mixed oak-pine woodlands in Pacific Grove, CA: the Rip Van Winkle Open Space and George Washington Park.
The study site at the Rip Van Winkle Open space was evenly mixed between Coast Live Oak and Monterey Pine, with a relatively closed canopy. The study site at George Washington Park was in a patch of Coast Live Oak within a larger stand of Monterey Pine and had only moderate canopy cover.
Images were taken using 0.5m x 0.5m quadrats spaced 1 meter apart along 15m transects placed approximately 2-3m apart.
