Have your Zoom (or other platform) link ready ahead of time so that you are able to troubleshoot and make sure the link is working. If you plan to host the same session multiple times, consider setting up one Zoom link that you use every time. This way, you won’t need to update your website with new links periodically.
Design a PowerPoint or other presentation that has both visual and useful text information. Changing the background colors and having animations makes the session more engaging.
Prepare a list of commonly-used links to reference and distribute as needed during your virtual session so that you do not have to search for them in real-time when talking with students. This way, you will have them easily on hand in case students need more information about admissions, financial aid, campus resources, and other topics.
Collect emails of students who are interested in further information.
Have a ‘Be Right Back’ PowerPoint slide for those moments when you need to step away from the session and a student may drop in.
