My Connection
My name is Callahan and I am a student at the College of Saint Scholastica where I am pursuing a double major in Music and Elementary Education.I grew up with a brother who had special needs. He couldn't do a lot of things, but he could love more than anyone I've ever met. He fostered my love for education; I found so many ways to teach him and with that, so many lessons to learn from him. My mother tried to put him into the education system but they made her feel like it was a burden for them to bear and that he would get nothing out of it. Education is for all. Just because a student doesn't learn the way most do, doesn't mean they don't deserve a chance.
Our education system has come a long way since then. We now live in a world where disabilities are recognized as different abilities. I hope this website comforts you by showing you the ways learning can be adapted to fit the needs of your special child.
