Team Edge

Welcome to Team Edge!

Team Edge is a full year experience where you will learn how to build and design web applications and experiences.

In this course, we will journey together to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Then we'll venture into the world if the Internet of Things (IoT) and learn to integrate hardware into our web projects. You will create Flask web servers and store data using SQL in Full stack web apps. Later on we will learn some new concepts around Machine Learning and Computer Vision.

As we embark on this journey, this website will be here to be your reference. It will be constantly updated to make sure you have the most up to date content from your classes.

Mentorship
- You will be paired with a Google Mentor in October and must meet with them bi-weekly throughout the school year. (TBD for 2023)
Leadership In Action
- One Leadership in Action session will be hosted per term. You must participate in all three sessions throughout the academic year.

Attendance

Engineers are only allowed one excused absence per term; no unexcused absences.
For an absence to be considered excused, you must have informed all of your coaches prior to your missed class and make up the work that you missed that session.
If you have an unexcused absence in a term, you will be placed in the red zone, or on probation for the following term. You must have no absences to be removed from probation.
Engineers are required to be on time every class session.
We value communication, so please reach out to a coach if you are running late or unable to make it to a class.

Creative Confidence

Creative confidence is the belief that you can become more creative by seizing opportunities and thinking outside the box. Those with creative confidence see mistakes and failures as learning opportunities.

Cultural Awareness

Cultural awareness is about becoming aware of the values, beliefs and perceptions of yourself and others in order to develop meaningful relationships in diverse environments.

Communication

Effective communication means clearly explaining your ideas in a variety of ways. It is listening to understand someone else's perspective and making sure every person's voice is heard, valued and incorporated into the conversation.

Knowledge Base

A strong knowledge base for a tech leader includes exposure to foundational concepts in computer science, engineering and leadership as well as taking a deep dive into some of those concepts.

Teamwork

The purpose of teamwork is to collaborate with others to create something that was not possible individually. Productive teamwork focuses on team strengths and building trusting relationships.

Computational Thinking

Computational thinking is a process for solving problems and answering questions using both the complex problem solving skills of people combined with the power of technology.

Technology Fluency

“Technology" refers to a variety of tools such as smartphones, laptops and circuit boards, etc. "Fluency" is being able to understand and produce technology in a variety of situations and for a variety of purposes. Someone who develops "technology fluency" is able to be a producer of innovative technology.
