UPCYCLING
A shout out to Talley teacher Sara Welp for her crafty recycling skills. Not only is this amazing bag (modeled by Austin) beautiful and functional, it was knitted from recycled plastic bags. What a way to get creative!
The Green Team used recycled plastic chip bags with a mylar (shiny) interior to make a sleeping bag for members of our Decatur community who are currently unhoused. (Mylar reflects up to 90% of a person’s body heat and can keep you warm when it’s cold outside.)
Elena G. proudly displays her lamp made from a recycled glass jar, sporks recycled from our school cafeteria and a battery-powered tea light. We learned how to make this from a book in the Talley library titled "Upcycled Gifts and Gadgets" by Anastasia Suen.
