UPCYCLING
A shout out to Talley teacher Sara Welp for her crafty recycling skills. Not only is this amazing bag beautiful and functional, it was knitted from recycled plastic bags. What a way to get creative!
The Green Team used recycled plastic chip bags with a mylar (shiny) interior to make a sleeping bag for members of our Decatur community who are currently unhoused. (Mylar reflects up to 90% of a person’s body heat and can keep you warm when it’s cold outside.)
Green Team members learned how to make this special "Spork Lamp" (using recycled glass jars, recycled plastic sporks from our school cafeteria and battery-powered tea lights) from a book in the Talley library titled "Upcycled Gifts and Gadgets" by Anastasia Suen.
