VISITS & OBSERVATIONS
Regular Visitation Policy:
To ensure the safety and confidentiality of students, the district limits visitors to:
The parents/guardians of current students
Other family members of current students who are approved by the student’s parent/guardian
Those persons invited by the District for official business
Upon request, the Principal or designee at his/her discretion may grant permission for outside service providers who currently provide private educational or therapy services to a student
Due to our student population growth, we are no longer able to accommodate family visits in the cafeteria during lunch. Weather permitting, there are other locations around the school - the Outdoor Classroom, benches near the playground, or the front of the school - for you and your child to spend time in The Natural World while also enjoying a meal during their designated lunch block. Please notify your child’s teacher ahead of time if you decide to exercise this option.
To minimize disruption to the instructional program, visits to classrooms or requests to meet with specific personnel must comply with the following guidelines:
All visitors must sign in at the school office and verify permission to visit any part of the school
Visits generally require notice at least 24 hours in advance
Parents/guardians may observe up to 45 minutes during a classroom visitation however, visitors invited by the district for official business may be granted extended time periods as necessary to perform their functions at the discretion of the district
Classroom visitations are not a time for parent/teacher conferences and parents/guardians should not expect teachers to confer with them at this time
The regular school program must continue during such visits so parents/guardians must refrain from engaging the attention of the teacher or students through conversation or other means
Parents may not bring minor children with them to observe in the classroom as this disrupts the school program
The principal at his/her discretion may accompany the observer or assign another CSD employee to that task
Observers need to sign Oakhurst’s Confidentiality Agreement
***From the CSD Pupil Progression Plan
***All observers must sign a confidentiality form
