Changes in Dismissal Plan?
Changes in daily dismissal plans must be communicated by calling the office (before 2:20 PM) 404-370-4470, emailing our School Manager, Kizzy Terry (kterry@csdecatur.net), or sending a note to the teacher in your child's communication folder prior to the change.
The office will ask you to send a follow up email to the person who receives the call as a safe guard to having the change in writing.
Dogs are not allowed on school grounds at any time.
SAFETY FIRST: The carpool lane is for CARS ONLY. Please do not walk through this lane of traffic. You will be politely asked to go around the building. Thank you
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
Our first priorities are safety and efficiency
First day of school: Tuesday, August 1, 2023
Building doors open: 8:00am
School day starts: 8:20am (tardy starts at 8:20am bell)
School day ends: 2:50pm
Please do not block mailboxes, crosswalks, driveways, etc. (see below for a list of parking locations)
Follow directions of the staff for safety and smooth operation
Families and students are to use crosswalks and obey crossing guards.
Bicycle and scooter riders; please WALK your bikes on campus “Walk your Wheels!”
Walkers along Mead are highly encouraged to use the side walk on the even house number side of the street (east) and cross at the cross walk in front of the school. This reduces the number of walkers crossing the car pool line.
The front driveway loop is reserved for employees from 7am-8am and 2pm-3pm; buses, approved vans and staff access.

Car Riders
8:00am Building and Classrooms Open - Students may enter building through Carpool Drive-Thru (South Entrance)
Side door opens; Buses arrive; Breakfast available in the cafeteria
Car riders and early walkers (students only, no parents) may enter at the side door by drive through and walk directly to the cafeteria.
Car Rider Drop Off Directions
Families who choose to use the car rider drop off method, enter via Feld Road (behind the school) to access the one way drop off route.
Reminders:
Please stay off cell phones while in car rider line
Please wait for staff to unload. Do not leave children at the drop off door unattended. Staff will be in place to monitor students and guide them to morning locations
Please be mindful of staff accessing parking. Do not block the entrance to our parking lot or block parking spaces.
DO NOT pass other vehicles while in the carpool lane
Exit to Mead Road right turn only (going south bound towards Oakhurst Village will be implemented at regular intervals) for a smooth car rider exit.

Walkers may enter through the front door or back door
Walkers entering from Feld Avenue use the pedestrian path and enter the back door near the Media Center (students only, adults must enter the school via the front door)

8:20 Front and back doors close:
Students arriving after the doors are closed at 8:20am, must have a parent check them in tardy in the front office. Tardy students will go to class while parents complete the tardy sign in.

Early Dismissal
If you will be picking up your child early, please make every effort do so before 2:20pm. After 2:20pm, buses have begun to arrive and the carpool line has formed, making it more difficult for you to be able to come in and exit quickly.

Cars enter the drop-off/pick-up line from Feld Ave. (rear of school)
Car riders must have card on dash board for pick up (cards will be passed out the first week of school)
No cell phones in car rider line

Staff will escort students from the class to the car rider line
Students listen for their name and cone number and proceed to the correct cone to wait for their car
Exit to Mead Road right turn only (going south bound towards Oakhurst Village will be implemented at regular intervals)
Walkers dismissed outdoors
***Adults picking up walkers need to access the field from Oakhurst Park entrance on Mead Road or by walking behind the school. We ask you to avoid walking through the circle drive where we are loading buses.
Staff will escort students to the play field (Look for the signs with teacher names)
Families wait on the field for students to exit the building
Staff and family member will make contact before student is released from the group
On rainy days, you may choose to call the office before 2 PM, have your child dismissed as a car rider and join the car rider line from Feld Avenue.
Rainy Day Plan
On rainy days, walkers will be dismissed from the school after buses have been dismissed. Please keep sidewalks clear for bus riders.
Kindergarteners dismissed from the K level door to the right of the main entrance doors (look for the recycling bins). Kemp and Powers classroom dismiss from back door near their classrooms
1st Graders dismiss from the front of the building main entrance doors
2nd Graders dismiss from the recess doors/play field

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
CSD has a policy prohibiting animals on campus. Please leave your pets at home when walking to and from school
If checking your child out early, report to the office, and we will call your child from class.
Weekly dismissal plans are communicated and posted at the beginning of the year.
If your child is to be picked up by an authorized adult, please include the name of the adult in your note/email. For the safety of our students, the office will ask to see a photo ID.
Walk Your Wheels: Walk bikes and scooters while on campus. Lock up bikes and scooters in front or behind the school
